glory years defined by Cocteau Twins and This Mortal Coil; Gerrard, of course, was half of another definitive 4AD group, Dead Can Dance. The sumptuously packagedImmortal Memoryis beautiful to look at, and no less pleasing to listen to. In company with Irish composer Patrick Cassidy, Gerrard has created a thing of fragile wonder.Dead Can Dance were always distinguished by a refusal to accept that music was a transient, fleeting fancy of humankind, forever reaching back to realms untouched by most modern musicians. OnImmortal Memory, that approach is taken to its most fundamental extremes. The opening track, "The Song of Amergin", is an interpretation of what legend holds is the first poem uttered on Irish soil by a mortal being; later on the album there's an arrangement of "The Lord's Prayer" in Aramaic, the language spoken by Jesus. The music onImmortal Memoryis Gerrard at her best: graceful, melodramatic orchestrations underpinning her extraordinary, keening voice. Gerrard remains a unique and treasurable talent, andImmortal Memoryis a masterpiece.--Andrew Mueller

Advantages: Please read the review Disadvantages: Must read the review
Believe me it is difficult, very very difficult. A thinker as he is on the field and his book proves that he is more than that- a thinker and a philosopher too. Other wise how can one explain the passion, the honesty, his beliefs, his philosophy of life as footballer of the highest class and a true family man, who has not put either his profession above his family and visa versa. How many celebrities, forget about football celebrities, has been able to do it ? He has been able to balance these two so admirably simply because being a celebrity, a private figure he never forgot HE IS FIRST A HUMAN BEING and then anything else. No wonder human values never over-rode his fathom less talent as a footballer.
But I must first thank, probably Gerrard need not, the nurses, the doctors, the support stuff and the tremendous advancement ...
Advantages: Very interesting. Disadvantages: Nothing
Why did I buy this book?
I guess like most people you see an autobiography of a famous person you like and you have to have it. I have also been a fan of Liverpool football team and as you will probably guess Steven Gerrard is my favourite footballer!
I
This books starts from the beginning of his childhood from when Steven would run around the streets of his hometown which is Liverpool playing football. The book then goes on to tell you about his family and then school.
Steven Gerrard's parents realised they had a special son who was very talented when it came to football. Since Steven was little all he ever wanted to do was play football. In the book it tells you how he's dreams of becoming a footballer nearly came to an end when he accidentally kicked the prong of a garden for which embedded itself in his toe. Luckily he ...
Advantages: Easy reading! Disadvantages: Very stright forward!
As a fan of autobiographies I will always read anyones at least once! Im not a Liverpool fan, nor a massive Gerrard fan but decided on this book as some holiday reading! It done the trick, its light and entertaining at parts. It was very straight forward in its content, simply retelling his childhood and how he became one of Englands most talented footballers. Im always slightly put off by people who can write their life story at such a young age, as a result the book wasnt one of the best I have read. I think maybe 20years along the road with more life and family experience behind him then the book may have been slightly more compelling. A bit like Pele's self titled wonder peice! A perfect example of an extremely gifted football who used his talents and statue to achieve a life worthy of an autobiography! I wouldnt be put off ...

Album Notes
Personnel: Lisa Gerrard (vocals); Patrick Cassidy. As soft and eloquent as a prayer, as vast and impressive as a mountain, this is a grand work by former Dead Can Dance singer Lisa Gerrard and Irish composer Patrick Cassidy. The name of the second track, "Elegy," fits the mood here perfectly; this is music firmly rooted in the classical mystic soil of Gorecki and Handel, but branching up through mysterious blackened thunder clouds. On "Sailing to Byzantium," strings and droning vocals slide in and out of each other before some echoing cannon-fire percussion appears on the horizon, slowly adding dimensions of emotion. For the haunting "Our Father," Gerrard brings her voice down an octave, with results both protean and sophisticated. She reaches down even lower on "Paradise Lost," as if embodying the genderless voice of the whole human soul as it moves through the fleeting darkness of mortality. What lyrics there are here come mostly from ancient languages--Gaelic, Aramaic, Latin--adding up to the ancient, otherworldly feel. This music may evoke the mourning rites of death, but it also conjures the immortal spirit's ascent to heaven.
