Advantages: All their biggest song + lots you've probably never heard Disadvantages: Most of the B sides
...-beat and will make you feel like danceing. None of the tracks on this disc are bad, to say the least but some tracks are not up to the standard of those already mentioned.
The next disk is a selection of their better B-sides. This is the worst disc of the 3 with most of the songs sounding a bit like they'd all just been thown together at the last minuite to fill up the singles disc's. The only 2 songs I think are worth metioning are the last two tracks. These are two dubs. One of 'Ghost Town' and anoughter song called 'Let Us Unite' There great chilling music but dont really make the 2nd disc worth it.
The final Disc is called rarities. These are just versions of tracks on the other 2 discs. Some of them are good and some I could really do with out. Having said that, it's definatly worth a listen as it puts a different spin on some tracks.

...the album, maybe because it was the first song I ever heard by the band. A minute of dub shoots us into such an uplifting sound. But wait for the chorus...you can't stop the hairs on your neck standing up from the 'buzz'.
Black and White shows the bands Asian influences more obviously with alternative instruments and a definate dub feel to the song. Slow and mellow til a great rapid mid section.
Assasin is a definate live song to see. The bass line is immense, so turn it up! Several times on this album the guitarist adds some spoken word in the tracks. Like this one, it gives the song an eerie egde.
The next song brings the pace right back down with a full on dub track. It is called Hyprocrite. Listen out for the lyrics about themselves on this one. They know they are good!
Charge is an intense rush of bass and haunting organ sounds. Sirens...

Advantages: Superb technical musicianship, evolving the band's sound. Disadvantages: Many of the songs blur together.
...'Quintessence' is the fourth album by Norwegian progressive black metal band Borknagar, from Bergen. If that's a bit of a mouthful, it essentially means they spawned from Bergen's prominent and often infamous black metal scene in the early 90s, but evolved to incorporate more of a folk and progressive rock influence into their music, to the point that their most recent album 'Origin' is entirely acoustic. For this particular album, the band intentionally reverted a little to their black metal roots, and abandoned much of the folk influence for space-age sounding keyboards. Vocalist ICS Vortex, as he likes to be called, makes his second and final appearance here before moving on to join Dimmu Borgir, and although his excellent singing style is heard on several songs, it...
