Advantages: The heaviest piece of music ever - almost unearthly Disadvantages: Not for the faint of heart
...Bereft of all hope of redemption, all that Electric Wizard can do is to continue their downward spiralling journey into the abyss of pain, misery and insanity. With the superb Supercoven they seemed to have laid down the gauntlet to heavy bands everywhere – top this, if you dare. But they’ve answered the challenge themselves and produced the single heaviest musical entity in all of creation: Dopethrone.
A terrifying journey into the centre of minds so twisted and addled by pain, depression and substance abuse that they make Charles Manson look well adjusted, Dopethrone is a masterfully hewn work of pure doom. This is not music for the weak of heart – heavy, dark, slow and utterly devoid of anything resembling happiness or light, this is music for those times in your life when you think that things can’t get any...

Advantages: A great 2nd album from an improving band Disadvantages: copying Radiohead a little
...Coldplay are a funny band.
No, not in that way.
I'm talking about in my mind towards them.
I quite liked them when they first appeared, but went off them a little for 2 reasons..
Firstly, a lot of "Parachutes" sounded like Adorable, my friends' old band, who were slated by the critics & subsequently dropped by Creation who then discovered some band called Oasis you may have heard of.
Secondly, I thought they got a bit dull. Sort of like Travis have. The 1st Travis album (Brit Stomp/Ballads) was great, the 2nd was good, but by the "difficult" 3rd album, I'd got bored of the same thing.
With Coldplay, however, the band, rather like Radiohead in so many ways are growing in confidence, craft, song-writing, and sheer ability. "A rush of blood to the head" is a great album. I don't use that word lightly or sparingly. It's the sort of album you...

Advantages: A SELF PROFESED MASTERCLASS IN METAL Disadvantages: NONE
...arpeggiated thrash riff. The narrative of this song is of an ancient warrior realising his true cause in life but still believing in fighting and how he can't forgive his enemy so he remains the enemy. The lyrics truly suit the style of the song.
Annihilation By The Hands Of God - Again a pure thrash song with a lot of interlaying instrumental lines. The vocals don't suit my style of music the singer is from death metal band MalevolentCreation again not my style of music but a clearly well thought through song and a great solo performed by the guitarist James Murphy of Obituary fame.
In The Fire - One of the best songs on this album - written and performed by Matt K. Heafy and also sharing guitaring responsibilities with Corey Beaulieu both from Trivium so you can expect an amazing song. The solo is shredilicous. But what make this song for me...
