In Concert/Scottish Love Songs - Corries (The)

Advantages: It's great music more or less throughout
Disadvantages: A couple of weaker moments

...Having heard Frank Turner's "The First Three Years", an album which reflected on his first few years work as a solo artist after leaving Million Dead, there was no way I couldn't listen to more of his music. After all, the genre he works in, mainly folk based but with frequent rock twists, was one I enjoy listening to and my first experience with his work proved that he was very adept within that field. Compilations like that can be a bit patchy due to their nature, so it seemed only fair I judge him not only on that, but also on his studio work. Fortunately, the version of "The First Three Years" I picked up also came packaged with his second studio album, "Love, Ire & Song", so I didn't have to go too far to get a taste of Turner's studio work. ...Track Listing Hey Boy The Sky Opened Wide Like the Tide Knowing the Things That I Know Let's Play Boys Chase Girls The Love That I Crave Hock It 'Come on Petunia' I love this album. There is something about Khaela Maricich's singing which makes this music so compelling and almost addictive. It sounds so honest uncontrived that something in it draws you in and compels you to listen to what she has to say. She has a kind of easy cool sound to her voice which makes it easy and enjoyable to listen to, as well making her songs even more catch and memorable! A lot of the lyrics on this album are interesting, beautiful and make you smile., For example on, "hey boy", a song about a boy not calling her back, Khaela goes through possible reasons, singing, "A) you're gay B) You have a girlfriend C) you kinda thought I came... Advantages: Great mix of artists and well known tunes
Disadvantages: Maybe needed more female artists, popular r'n'b stars

...2 Disc Set, with 40 tracks so you can't really go wrong here. It's kind of a mix of the old and the new love songs, but still some timeless tracks from artists like Mary Mary, Aliyah, 2Pac, Anita baker, Toni Braxton and others. The kinds of songs everyone knows. Some lovers tunes and some more faster paced. With Lemar, Wayne Wonder, Akon, Ashanti, Mya, India Arie, as well known young stars of now. But it would have been nice to have seen some younger and newer R'n'B stars that are playing in the clubs at the moment and also maybe a bigger selection of female vocalists like Khelis, Brandy, Ne-Yo, Omarion and others. Still the tracks are a good mix with tunes like My Boo, Usher and Alicia Keys, Satisfaction, Eve, Cry me a River, Justin Timberlake, Sweet Love, Anita Baker, On and On Eryka Badu and lots more....
