In Flames 1995-1999 - Hanin Elias

Advantages: Great new single
Disadvantages: Sounds simalar to the bangles but isn't as good

...I wrote this opinion roughly about a month ago now but didn't gain many reads from it, now this song has been released and has hit the number 1 spot in the UK beating Destinys Child I feel hopefully that I can get more reads! Thanks guys, carry on reading now...... To start off with, a question ~ Do you remember that great song by 'The Bangles' called 'Eternal Flame'? The slow catchy song that everyone listened to right at the end of the 80's!? Well now Atomic Kitten have re-released this song. I heard the song on 'The box' a music television channel and I watched the video and thought it was fab. It's their brand new song off their NEW album too!!! ...Yet again I say In Flames is the best band imaginable. Not only for their musical skill and audiological presentation of the sound itself, but the sublime lyrics too. The album begins atmospherically with the title track "Reroute To Remain", one of those emotional In Flames songs. Then it speeds up with System and Drifter, containing hasty drum and guitar work characteristic of In Flames. Slowing down a little with Trigger, one of the more well-known In Flames songs, with a sort of spooky loud chorus. Cloud Connected is one of those epic songs, you just can't get the tune out of your head however hard you try. Transparent combines a large range of varied vocals by Anders for that hypnotic effect we've heard so many times from him. ...The Flaming Lips are really interesting to listen to - they can develop a great style and fantastic music in one album and then a few years later come out with something that sounds pretty juvenile (not necessarily a bad thing!) and more naively produced. 'Hit to Death in the Future Head' is an example of some of their better stuff. It is one of my favourite albums, and definitely favourite Flaming Lips one. Fantastic thumping drums and electric guitar come from Micheal, Jonathon and Nathan. They form the original line-up when combined with Wayne Coyne on vocals. As with most Flaming Lips stuff it takes a little getting used to, but after a while is completely addictive. 'Hit to Death....' is quite bizarre and a little unsettling at times with lyrics dealing with disillusionment and bitterness. They are also quite graphic... Read review
