Album Notes: The Meteors' 1981 debut IN HEAVEN immediately sets the group apart from the more fashion-conscious young rockabilly groups in the U.K. at the time, featuring wild-eyed rockers like "Rockabilly Psychosis" and "Psycho For Your Love."
Advantages: Very good for the ears Disadvantages: crap if your not into Psycobilly
...Only been into Psycobilly for a short while, but The Meteors seem to the best about. Past tracks like The wrecking crew will always be an anthem for this type of music. this album is keeping in the style and even a bit more roar. The Meteors are better known for there live act but to keep up with demand they release an album or two over time. and this is deffinatly going to be up there at the top of rockabilly charts if there was such a thing. the meteors will also be playing at this years Speed Freaks ball, for info on this you'll have to search, but do not miss it.
If you buy an other Psycobilly or rockabilly album you'll be disapointed you didn't get this one. Buy and rock on you '' sick things''...

Advantages: beautifully blissed out Disadvantages: short lived
...While they didn't hit the big time with their earlier albums Verve as they were once known released an amazing debut in the form of A Storm in Heaven. There were early signs of greatness in their ability to create haunting and ethereal soundscapes. Heavily effected vocals and guitars blend with simple but effective rhythms. There are no anthems to rival those of A Northern Soul, and nothing as commercial as Bitter Sweet Symphony, but the dreamy sounds make up for the lack of radio friendly singles. In fact the dreamy sounds are better than any of the radio friendly singles. To the average listener this album may be a little bit difficult to get into. But once you're in, you will be hooked. A truly captivating album...

Advantages: more beat and melody than you can handle Disadvantages: it ends
...seemingly goes on forever or at least six minutes or so.
Most great albums have a track which radically departs from its main body of work,in this case its "My Other Voice "so sublime and strange yet hypnotic and euphoric that you might think that you have died and gone to heaven, its backward symbols intro makes way for an electronic angelic choir which in turn submits to a spaghetti western guitar line before the cherubic Russell sings of the joy of having two voices ,the song makes no sense at all in the real world but in the abstract surrealism of The Mael Brothers /Sparks it all makes complete sense of course ,but you will never hear a song so staggeringly different within the realms of a pop song .
In perverse and awkward Sparks fashion the title track is also the last, the sprawling electro epic"The Number One Song in Heaven "in its...
