...in D minor is in contrast to the fifth light and sparkling. Written in four movements has an overwhelming sense of nature at rest. The first movement is full of elusive movement. The second opens softly with quivering strings and chirping birdsong. The third movement, poco vivace, is lively and bright as a harp shimmers empirically above the music. The finale, Allegro molto, weaves together all the threads from the previous movements. It is gentle and somewhat melancholic with an obsessive bass line that trails off into nothingness.
The music is a live recording by the London Symphony Orchestra. It is flawless with every note sounding clearly creating a wonderful rich orchestral texture. Sir Colin Davis keeps together the ebb and flow of the musical maintaining the tension. A lifelong champion of Sibelius, Davies takes his symphonies...

Advantages: Great collaboration, rare recordings, rare footage Disadvantages: Maybe not your thang
...will recognise the CD from the front picture (photo taken at the New York Palladium 21.9.79) as it is the same as the one that appeared on the original album with the embellishment of “25th Anniversary Edition” emblazoned down the left-hand side. This offering will appeal to fans of rock music who prefer their music raw and with an edge. In today’s terms, maybe Green Day would be as up to the minute as I can think but The Clash do belong on a level all of their own. The Clash is among my all time favourite musical acts and one of my great regrets is never having seen them perform live. I can’t recommend them and this package highly enough.

Advantages: Fantastic remake of the original show Disadvantages: Miss Sunshine (bleugh)
..."Ladies and Gentlemen. You are about to see a story of murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery and treachery"
Thus begins the recording of the 1998 London Cast & stars Ute Lemper & Ruthie Henshall. It is a quality remake of the original show, with a more funked up jazz feel and a hotter edge. Many of these show stopping tunes are instantly recognisable, with tunes such as All that Jazz, Mr Cellophane and Razzle Dazzle.
The CD works well as a sound track, with just enough 'dialogue' involved so that the story can be followed & even if you have never seen the performance on stage the music will conjure you up an atmosphere of Vaudeville, and serve a menu of greed, murder and entertainment ~ "All those thing we held near and dear to our hearts"...
