    Advantages Advantages Very little

Disadvantages Disadvantages No drum and bass

I recently saw Pendulum at Rock City in Nottingham and as they were promoting their new album, it influenced me to buy this. Despite the fact I didn't think it was the best gig, and they didn't ply the best song from them "Tarantula", I still enjoyed it that much that I felt I should go out and get this. 1. "Showdown" The opening to the album completely throws you off if you bought this album because you enjoyed the groups past work because it sounds like a pop punk track from someone like The Offspring instead of DnB, not what you should be greeted with, if they wanted to win over fans, they ... more

Advantages Advantages a clear recording and well mixed, some of the old pendulum is still there!

Disadvantages Disadvantages selling their integrity, the vocals piss you off so much..

Unfortunately, In Silico marks Pendulum's downfall whilst bringing disappointment to the world of Drum and Bass. I say this because after Pendulum's masterful debut album "Hold Your Colour", it seems that the Australian band have effectively become both corporate & mainstream and are willing to sell their integrity. It is evident in this album that Pendulum have tried and failed to create a soundtrack that incorporates parts of rock music and DnB, in order to appeal to a wider audience. The sad truth is that instead they have embarassed themselves by producing an album that is nothing more ... more

Advantages Advantages Something different, memorable tunes, great live

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None...

Totally different from "Hold your colour", Pendulum have clearly used more tangible instruments in the creation of this great album. As a drum and bass album I don't rate it at all as few of the tracks could ever pass for DnB, however as an experimental rock style I put it way up there. I was lucky enough to see the band play this album live, and some of their performances were epic. "Propane Nightmares" - what a tune, with enough of a tune to appeal to hardcore DnB fans, but lyrics to make it more commerical and accessible to the masses. "Granite" - great tune to rave to, at home, in the car ... more

Advantages Advantages Very original, packed with varied and atmospheric tracks.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Has one or two poor tracks.

When I say that In Silico is outstanding when compared to Pendulum's last album, Hold Your Colour, I know a lot of people will disagree with me. Fans of Hold Your Colour don't like the fact that Pendulum ditched drum and bass for electronic rock. But to be honest, I love the direction Pendulum took. I found this a very good album. I really enjoy listening to every song on the album, bar one or two. Here is my verdict on each one. Showdown - A loud and fast song. It is huge on drums and synth, mostly being just instrumental. It can be quite atmospheric, and one of the best songs on the album ... more
