...when the boys are straight-faced and full on seriousness, but amongst the cavalcade of saccharine hooks and uber-large choruses, this is simply a case of Good Charlotte doing what they've always done - brilliantly constructed mass-appeal pop-rock with an angsty edge - and in the case of Revival, they do it as well as ever.
If anything, Revival expands on the bands previous efforts, with the likes of 'Victims Of Love' and 'Dance Floor Anthem' fusing late 80's synths aside chugging guitar lines, whilst the effortless - yet ridiculous - 'All Black' bounds about with all the endless enthusiasm of a caffeine-induced 8 year old on a trampoline. It stalls in parts - such as on the sappy Coldplay-esque 'Where Would We Be Now' - but on the whole the album treads a steady line between up-tempo rockers and effective ballads. And it works...

Advantages: A number of brilliant tracks, some of which show great potential. Disadvantages: Demo recordings so sound quality can be poor.
...Rivers Cuomo is an extremely introverted and at times highly insolent individual. His sanity has been questioned many a time over the years, and his isolation from others is clear for all to see. Despite his questionable state of mind, Weezer as a band have continued for the most part to release excellent albums over the years and now comes this latest release from Rivers Cuomo as a solo artist. Advantages: More aggressive, back to the "Throwing Copper" style Disadvantages: Not as good as "Throwing Copper"
...Live have had to go back to the good-old-days to delivering there forth album "The Distance to Here" (October 1999). After a poor reception from there third album "Secret Samadhi" (February 1997) which did no favors for Live's fan base, they had to reunite with producer Jerry Harrison to bring back there lost sound which was so popular with Mental Jewelry and especially Throwing Copper.
The "Secret Samadhi" album was heavier which I feel many "main-stream" fans had rejected the concept, although it reached number 1 and went double platinum. "Lakini's Juice", "Freaks", "Turn My Head" and "Rattlesnake" were all extremely popular hit singles from the album.
"The Distance to Here" comes at you faster and reignites their sound from the "Throwing Copper" days, while Chad Taylor's (lead guitar) background vocals is much crisper which...
