Additional notes
Album Notes: This is billed as "a collection of Yanni favorites," and fans of this popular pianist should be pleased with the selections; they are a fine sampling of his work. "In the Mirror" is a delicate solo piano piece, a musical cascade full of lush arpeggios. "In the Morning Light" is an exploration of a simple melodic theme. Yanni has a soft touch, and every track shows his tender approach to music-making. "Forbidden Dreams" kicks things up to a slightly higher level of energy, as Yanni uses a more synthesized, techno approach, and "Chasing Shadows" continues in that vein; a textured, electronic tapestry, both compelling and slyly powerful. For his fans, this is a sure bet.
Advantages: Aerosmith in a raw form. Disadvantages: Short album. Not the best of songs.
...Done With Mirrors was released in December, 1985,
under the record label Geffen Records. This album is Aerosmith's 8th studio album, which was produced by Ted Templeman and recorded at: Fantasy Studios, Berkeley, CA.
In the middle of the 1980's, Aerosmith was pretty well written off and left for dead due to their drug abuse and the band member's ego clashes had taken such a severe toll that just about everyone had given up on Aerosmith. Aerosmith regrouped and decided to give it another go, and as a result went back into the studio to work on Done With Mirrors, which was supposed to be their big comeback album...

Done with mirrors was Aerosmiths' first outing for Geffen Records, having been signed to Columbia Records since their first album, Aerosmith, in 1973. The mid-80's was not a good period for Aerosmith. Drugs had taken their toll and both Joe Perry and Brad Whitford left the band for a while. This album, however, marks the turning point in Aerosmiths return to the big time. It is a slow start, but it is a start.
After 1983's album 'Rock in a Hard place', featuring Jimmy Crespo instead of Joe Perry it was clear that Aerosmith just could not cut it without the songwriting partnership of Tyler/Perry. Joe Perry's new band The Joe Perry Project was also...
