Advantages: Innocent look at a famous musician, James Stewart is brilliant Disadvantages: Dull due to the story being to sanitized
making her both sweet and engaging, especially during the sentimental climax. Whilst the remaining supporting cast were mostly unfamiliar to me, Harry Morgan who played Glenn's best friend Chummy was a familiar face from his days playing Col. Sherman T. Potter in "M*A*S*H*". Sadly his character was never really explored which is disappointing considering his prominence through out the movie.
Of course a big draw for this film is the music which features numerous tunes which have become synonymous with GlennMiller. From the beautiful 'Moonlight Serenade' to the up beat 'In the Mood' I doubt that any Glen Miller fan will be disappointed. On 15th December 1944, GlennMiller mysterious disappeared onboard a plane headed for Paris. Neither the plane or GlennMiller were ever found. There are many theories about what happened to the plane, but no-one really knows for sure. Many think the plane crashed due to bad weather. One theory is that the plane crashed when a fleet of Lancaster bombers jettisoned bombs. The plane caught in the shock waves of the explosions plummeted in the sea ? a victim of ?friendly fire?. For his dedication, Miller was awarded the Bronze Star.
GlennMiller will though always be remembered. His musical style and showmanship turned Big Band Music into a popular trend with a massive following with many memorable pieces including, "Moonlight Serenade", "Chattanooga Choo-Choo", "String of Pearls" and "In the Mood".

Advantages: Excellent music, Left behind a great legacy Disadvantages: He died

On May 17th Glenn's Orchestra played to a sold out audience at Glen Island Casino, New Rochelle and by the end of the session all box office records had been broken. At the beginning of September they travelled to Baltimore and played at the Hippodrome Theatre again all box office records had been broken from there Glenn's Orchestra moved to New York and played at the State Fair in front of the biggest ever audience.
It was on April 4th of the same year that GlennMiller composed his signature tune 'Moonlight Serenade' and 'In The Mood' later in the year.
Towards the end of 1939, GlennMiller's orchestra had gone from strength to strength and Glenn's unique sound had people hooked. The band were now playing on the radio three times a week for the next two and a half years sponsored by the Chesterfield Cigarette Company as ...
