Album Reviews: JazzTimes (10/97, p.116) - \"...the ensemble displays the kind of empathy one would expect from family....the result is a very rich sound-beautifully recorded...\"
Advantages: Great introduction to Jazz Disadvantages: None
...mood" which I haven't seen elsewhere, and I don't think Brubeck wrote it either - It is however, just amazing and so full of swinging energy that I love it. 'In your ownsweetway' is a similarly great solo piano piece in which Brubeck shows his finesse on the ivories. I have tried to play this myself and I can assure you, Mr Brubeck's has very big hands. Camptown races and Bossa Nova USA are other notable quality tracks. The way that Brubeck and Paul Desmond (alto sax) play together is great, you can hear that they're well suited, as it all flows so effortlessly.
You don't have to be a hardcore Jazz fan to like this music. It's very tuneful, and will have you tapping your toe if you're in any way into rhythm. It may also open you up to one of the most underrated jazz piano player-songwriters of the last 50 years.

...Anybody going to see Bon Jovi at Wembley this year should get this video. Filmed live at the concert in 1995, it is a collection of the bands greastest hits, coupled with the new songs from the album "These Days". This video is great. Not only because of the actual performance, but also the way that the band encourages the fans to get involved with the whole performance too. Among the songs on show are "always", "Hey God", and "Shout". Anybody remember that? Yep- thats the one which Lulu produced. However, i'm willing to bet that Lulu never had 75000 fans singing it back at her. I cant wait to relive this atmosphere one more time...

Advantages: SImply Brilliant music Disadvantages: Slightly too short
...Some people say that jazz is either a thing you love or hate, personally I fall into the first category. I am a huge fan, and this particular album was the first I ever bought, so I thought it should get a special mention on Ciao! When I was sixteen I was playing the saxophone in a local band and working in a restaurant. One night while I was working 'take five' began playing and I just fell in love with DaveBrubeck. This was five years ago but I am still in awe of the sheer brilliance of the music upon this CD. I would highly recommend this as a great starter CD for anyone who likes jazz. It is an extremely easy listen, with a number of tracks that you might recognise.
DaveBrubeck was a pioneer of jazz, mainly in terms of his methods of changing time. His famous 9/8 time signatures can be seen in a number of tracks featured...
