At 17 I have only just started getting a real taste for music these past few years. And Foo Fighters seem to have tickled my fancy.
I am a fan of most of Foo Fighters' music going back to songs such as Monkey Rench, Breakout, One by One, The One, etc. and their newer releases have done well to keep up to their name.
As the new album, In Your Honor, was released, I found I already liked all songs previously released from taht album and decided to buy it. As with most albums I have bought I found I only liked the songs I already knew, but as time went on I began to like the sound of pretty much all of the tracks.
The better known tracks off the album are 'Best Of You' and 'DOA' and both follow the Foo Fighters 'image', in that you could easily define who they are by. Both use reasonable lyrics and arent filled with needless cursing like so many songs we listen to today.
Most of CD 1 follow a similar style, which differs just enough to not sound constantly repetative. However, the 2nd CD is where the album falls.
This might only be me, but I'm not much of a fan of accoustic tracks, particularly by such a 'heavy' band. It is good that Foo Fighters are trying new angles, and expanding their musical range, but it doesnt seem like a good direction for them in my opinion. The sound of Dave Grohl's vocals combined with a soft accoustic sound just didn't seem right.
The majority of the album is great and easy to sing along to...once you know the lyrics, and I would recommend this album to anyone who is into rock music as it has music for both heavy guitar, and accoustic fans.

Advantages: Quite catchy tracks, something for everyone some good guitar riffs etc. Disadvantages: Some tracks not memorable, the mix of track types may make it seem like they lack real direction
