This is the fifth album to be produced by this legendary band and is very different from their earlier work. For a start there are two discs; one acoustic and one hard rock: The heavier side holds a good strong, feel good emotion throughout with songs that you would love to hear echoe throughout stadiums. This album can defonatley be argued that few of the songs on the heavey side are the best which they have ever produced. First listen of this album would be the single 'Best of You'; and if your thinking that this track is the only good song on the album you are mistaken because the album as a whole is just as entertaining. The acoustic side is something which existing Foo Fighter fans would be familiar with; older songs which they produced were really happy and the style which you would tap your toes too and cheer you up after a tireing day. This side of the Foo Fighters is lost on the acoustic side; though dont let this throw you off: Where as you could describe the older songs as happy you could describe these as beautiful in an acoustical sense rather than the love song sense. The best song on the acoustic song is 'Cold Day in the Sun'; where the lead singer 'Dave Grohl' swaps roles with the drummer 'Taylor Hawkins' (Dave - Drums, Taylor - Guitar and Vocals). One of the last songs of the album is its secret weapon and shows how much the Foo Fighters are willing to experiment. You may also be interested that the acoustic side has 'John Paul Jones' (Led Zeppelin) and 'Norah Jones' assisting the lads of Foo Fighters. Believe me the work is defonatley worth listening to at least twenty or so times. The music produced by the Foo FIghters from album to album change quite dramatically which can make it hard to compare to each other. Every album you can hear evolve to something more technical (knowledge of what they have learnt) and each is great in its own way. Though this album is more for the tast of todays music crowd than the other albums. They are not less rocky but easier to listen to initially. I recomend buying this album if you like the Foo Fighters at all on any level.

fantastic album, although the acoustic disc was a bit of a letdown in my opinion - saw the guys last December, and they performed the likes of "Best Of You" and "No Way Back", and they were absolutely superb. Alex

Advantages: Quite catchy tracks, something for everyone some good guitar riffs etc. Disadvantages: Some tracks not memorable, the mix of track types may make it seem like they lack real direction
