'In Your Honor' is the fifth studio album from the American rock band that is the Foo Fighters. The album was released in 2005 and consists of twenty tracks spread over two discs of music. The fact that you get over an hour and twenty minutes of music here is really rather excellent; the music that you get isn't always great, you definitely get a lot of it though. £5.47 is the current price at Amazon; fantastic value for money? I think so.
The album is packed full of hard hitting guitar riffs, excellent drum work, and the fantastic vocal tone of one Dave Grohl also. 'Best of You' was the lead single here and most definitely this is one of the finest tracks from the album; it's such a powerful piece of music and always here the sound of the Foo Fighters is absolutely exceptional. The lyrics are brilliant, the vocals magnificent, and instrumentally the music always has much to offer also. 'Best of You' is quite possibly one of the greatest commercial rock songs I've heard in recent years; it possesses the most wonderful of choruses and always when I hear this track I smile.
Tracks such as 'DOA', 'Resolve', and 'Friend of a Friend' are others that stand out from this album for various different reasons. 'Resolve' and 'DOA' are a further two hard hitting rock songs, 'Friend of a Friend' however is an acoustic track that is performed alone by Dave Grohl. The song was actually written way back in 1990, it's a bit of a blast from the past and a track which actually dates back to Grohl's days with former band Nirvana. It works well on the second disc of this album, the second disc is actually has more of an acoustic/folk kind of feel whereas the first disc is one of hard hitting rock; both discs work well, it's definitely the hard hitting rock disc that appeals to me most however.
The acoustic side of this band was one that the band further looked into and explored with the 2006 live album 'Skin and Bones', this was a great implementation of the acoustic music of Foo Fighters however and with this album the band showed that it has two extremely different sides. Disc one is hard and heavy, disc two on the other hand is soft and acoustic; both discs contain ten tracks, and owning this 'Skin and Bones' album is a little like owning two separate albums as the music contained within this release is really that different from disc to disc. I don't think this is a great album, it contains some great songs but I certainly don't perceive this to be at all an excellent Foo Fighters release. I think the thing about this album is that you're always going to prefer one disc over the other; personally I prefer the first disc which possesses the hard hitting rock music, I'm sure there will be others out there that prefer the acoustic disc however and each to their own really. I would recommend this album in a way, it's only £5.47 at current and you do get over 80 minutes of music; it's not great though and definitely not one of my favourite albums from my collection.
I don't listen to 'In Your Honor' often, when I do I generally quite enjoy it, it's certainly not great though and although there are definite moments of excellence here it's certainly not a perfect album. If you've ever liked a Foo Fighters track/album then chances are that you'll like this, just don't expect anything too extraordinary from the band here as in doing so you'll only leave yourself open to disappointment.

Advantages: Quite catchy tracks, something for everyone some good guitar riffs etc. Disadvantages: Some tracks not memorable, the mix of track types may make it seem like they lack real direction
