Advantages: Great songs, use of instruments and brilliant innovative style Disadvantages: Some parts seem to drag on a bit
My introduction to this album started last Saturday when I thought I?d find out what all the fuss about this album was about being apparently brilliant. Consequently, I can honestly say that this is one of the best, and definitely most innovative albums I?ve heard in a long time. From the very beginning with the slow introduction of flutes and strings comes an explosion of drums and guitars that almost blows you away. This ensures you know whom your listening to being the legend that is Pink Floyd. Following on as the tracks flow nicely into each other, the music builds up with air sirens whirling imitating the war and then it all turns much quieter with a more ballad style of music and meaningful lyrics. Soon enough, however, the most famous song on the album kicks in, that being ?Another Brick On The Wall part 1? which is very ...
Advantages: Classic Pink Floyd Disadvantages: Some won't like it! You've been warned
I shouldn't have to write this opinion as you should all know that the Wall is one of the most original and controvertial albums ever released and as a consequence Pink Floyd's most famous...
The album was written almost five years before the film was released in 1982.
The music tells the story of a tortured soul, Pink and his battle with the out side world, being judged by his freinds and family, ultimately finishing with him going crazy, waiting for the worms.
A great selection of musical genre with every track being relevant to the story. The opening title of the film sums up the whole feels of the story, The Boy That Santa Claus Forgot.
When the film was made in 1982, Bob Geldof was casted in as the lead role.
The film and music over the years has created a lot of controversy. The BBC refusing to play Another Brick In ...
Advantages: Greatest Debut Ever, Every Song is Fantastic, His Afro! Disadvantages: How can there be any, it's Michael Jackson!
So far I have reviewed every other Michael Jackson album out there including, Thriller, Bad and Dangerous. Well today (29th August 2006) is a very special day, it is Michael Jackson's 48th Birthday!
For this reason I would like to take the liberty to write my final review on one of the greatest albums of all time - Michael Jackson's first solo album away from Motown, "Off the Wall".
A little history about the production of "Off the Wall":
Released in August 1979 "Off The Wall" was Michaels first solo album as an adult artist. He wanted this album to be the best it could be. He needed someone with great experience and had met Quincey Jones on the set on the movie "The Wiz" and Quincey produced the album. Michael wanted the sound of the album to be different from that of the Jacksons who had just had there biggest album success ...

Album Notes
Wall Of Voodoo: Stanard Ridgway (vocals, organ); Marc Moreland (guitar); Bruce Moreland (piano, bass instrument); Chas Gray (synthesizer); Joe Nanini (percussion). Recording information: Warner Brothers Studio, Hollywood, CA. Although Wall of Voodoo's artistic masterpiece is 1982's extraordinary concept album CALL OF THE WEST--also known as the one with "Mexican Radio" on it--the Los Angeles art-pop band had previously released both an album, 1981's DARK CONTINENT, and a self-titled EP. THE INDEX MASTERS is an expanded version of that 1980 EP, its six tracks combined with an entire album's worth of previously-unissued early live recordings, a sterling medley of Ennio Morricone's theme from THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY, and Hugo Montenegro's theme from HANG 'EM HIGH. A terrific electro-pop version of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" completes the circle of influences. The twanging, spaghetti-western ambiance of these pieces perfectly captures the cinematic oddity that was at the heart of Wall of Voodoo's sound, even before you hear singer Stan Ridgway's unique racetrack tout delivery and Jim Thompson-style noir lyrics. THE INDEX MASTERS is an essential document of LA new wave.
