...this is such a briliant cd and book guide. i would highly reccomend this to all indian musicians and people interested in studying indian classical music , specifically north indian aka hindustani music. it has a deep explanation of the basics of indian music so that you can truly appreciate the ragas (melodic structures) and talas (rhythmic cyles) and more features unique to indian music. the cds are also great as they are thoroughly explained in the book and you can even play the music on your western or indian instrument as the music is written in the book in western notation. the cds are not only great to listen to to learn the music side but are also great performances by some of the most distinguished artists in india.... ...i dont understand why people are so critical of the backstreet boys the music in all their albums is excellent they have sung so many chartbusters .their lead singers brian and nick are excellent this particular song of theirs is so touchy they are very innovative they always try something new though i do not like the loud numbers slow numbers like show me the meaning of being lonely are thought provoking their album sales prove that their songs are very popular with the masses here in india they have an excellent fan following on the whole i think that this song is excellent... ...I felt compelled to write a review for this - since there is not yet a review and also since this is one of my all time favourite albums! I first heard this at university when someone living on my corridor used to play it at all hours of the day. Rather than being irritated by this the music really began to grow on me until I got to the point where I really had to go and find out what it was and buy my own copy! This is in my opinion her best album. The music is really uplifting. India Arie uses a musical style that is probably best described as neo soul with elements of R&B. The album also has quite a folk feel to some of the tracks - for example "Beautiful". The most recogniseable track is "Video" which is about the appreciation of beauty other than that which is skin deep. My personal favourite track for both lyrics and music... Read review
