To be honest I have never been a massively devoted Fall Out Boy fan. I would say I like them, but I never bought their whole albums and listened indefinitely. Riding the 'sugar we're going down' and 'dance, dance' band-wagon was all I could ever put my name down too. So I thought I would be a bit more adventurous this time and round, and try their whole album. I was amazed. A thing I liked about it was that their most famous songs (this ain't a scene, it's an arms race, and thnks fr th Mmrs) were the ones I listened to the least, which is quite unusual. Therefore meaning to me, that the quality of tracks on this album is so good that they do not need to get buy just on the already famous songs. I love all different sorts of music, but this album pretty much converted me into more punk rocker-ish types of music. I am now proud to say that I am a converted Fall Out Boy fan.
1. Thriller. The unique voice of Fall Out Boy
just gives this track the edge. The rhythm of this track is quite fast, but the singing is slower, but fits together superbly. Great work guys. 8/10
2. "The Take Over, The Break Over". As always, as you will see on the whole album, the guitaring is pure quality, and this track doesn't seem to break that chain. 8/10
3. This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race. Personally I have heard this song too many times, and it has kind of worn a bit thin on my ear drums now unfortunately. But the first listens were great. 7/10
4. I'm Like a Lawyer With the Way I'm Always Trying to Get You Off. This is one of my favourite songs on the album. I love everything about it, down to the title. Superb. 10/10
5. Hum Hallelujah. One great track after another, my other favourite. The lyrics on this song are brilliant, listen to them next time; if you can stop yourself admiring the isanely amazing guitaring on this track. 10/10
6. Golden. A slower one forFall Out Boy. Listen to the lyrics on this one, they're superb. Another one to just sit and appreciate. 8/10
7. Thnks fr th Mmrs. The drummer deserves loads of credit on this one. It gives the song just what it needs to make it a great track. 8/10
8. Don't You Know Who I Think I am. I always find myself clapping along to this one, it just gets you going, and the way the song is put together is just cracking.
9. The (after) Life of The Party. This is unfortunately my least favourite song on the album, but there had to be one. It's a clever song, but I just don't like it as much as the others. 6/10
10. The Carpal Tunnel of Love. The singing in this track is immense. The only problem with that being I can't sing along without my voice failing. Its super. 8/10
11. Bang the Goldrums. I heard this song many times before I got the album, and could never figure out what it was called. I just hoped it was on the album, as I knew it was Fall Out Boy as they are quite unique. So when I heard it on this album I was extatic. You've done it again guys. 10/10
12. Fame > Infamy. Another great track, the guitaring is a tad repetative but I doesn't matter as the drumming and the singing fit in well with it. 8/10
13. You're Crashing, But You're No Wave. A faster track from Fall Out Boy on this album, showing great diversity, but the thing is, they can pull it off.
14. I've Got All This Ringing In My Ears and None of My Fingers. It's quite good, but I think it's a 'grower'. With quite a few listens it might be up there with the other Fall Out Boy greats. 6/10
15. G.I.N.A.S.F.S. I'm not going to say that they saved the best until last, but it definitely isn't the worst. Fall Out Boy, I am converted. Superb work. 9/10
Overall It is obvious that this album is pure quality. Any punk-rocker fan collection deserves this album, and pride of place at that. I have officially jumped off the 'sugar we're going down/ dance, dance' band-wagon and landed on the 'Infinity on High' one; I don't want to get off. Five stars. A definite 9/10, maybe pushing 10/10. I highly recommend it to everyone, as it has such great diversity. You have to have it, it's a must.
