Advantages: A Brilliant Record Disadvantages: Makes all other music sound inadequate..
..., a stark contrast to the nine and a half minute epic that is 'Let's Not Shit Ourselves', with it's many layers of instruments. In an attempt to create this new, larger sound Oberst has replaced a single drummer with a drum-core (three or four drumers playing at once). The record flows from the melancholy, keyboard based, Radiohead-esque 'Lover I Don't Have To Love' to the cheerful, optimistic piano melody of 'Bowl Of Oranges', and all the while telling the story of Conor's inner discontentment at the world. The country tinged, pop inspired 'Make War', and 'From A Balance Beam' provide the energy to the album, while 'Don't Know When But A Day's Gonna Come' and 'Laura Laurent' bring the melancholia which Oberst is able to express so eloquently through both his vocal and songwriting style.

Advantages: Unique Disadvantages: Last two songs and boredom
...MSP albums and a Che Guavara book - do fans feels as though the group is solely exclusive to them and their emotions and all that should be said is 'please grow up'. In paraphrasing Bill Clinton 'Its the music stupid', and we should feel, as fans, that music is a mutual society in which everyone has a stake. There is no place for work that is esoteric for the sake of being esoteric, but only for that which is esoteric in itself. (Ok Computer being the best example - Nicky Wire, James Dean Bradfield, the other one your boys took one hell of a beating).
But 'Dog on wheels' is the best piece of music that B & S have put on to disk and should be appreciated for the quality and individualty that is shown on their debut E.P. The first song has a bass line like a train going over sleepers at high speed and some fantastic lyrics that seem...
