This album is what I would call the finale when it comes to Queen. Over two decades Queen had continued to make music that was loved by more or less everyone, whatever the age, whether it be older people, people of the same era, or younger people that found themselves bought up with them.
Freddie Mercury, the lead singer, real name Farook Bulsara, was Persian, something that not many people were aware of, the were aware that he wasn't English but not familiar with his real nationality. Living life to max as every rock star should, it became evident during the late eighties that Freddie Mercury was not well and speculations began as too what was wrong with him. Freddie was never ashamed of his sexuality and was not afraid to be himself whether it be on the stage or off stage at one of the many parties that he used to attend, his flambuoyant behavious lead to him being diagnosed with the HIV virus which eventually developed into full blown AIDS.
This was a shock to everyone, probably not to the people that knew him well, but to the millions of fans that worshipped him and the band itself consisting of Brian May, Roger Taylor and JOhn Deacon. I remember well to this day, the day that Freddie Mercury passed away from this killer disease many a tear was shed as he was so well liked and admired by many.

Innuendo was one of those tracks that followed in the same sort of footsteps as Bohemian Rhapsody, a very long instrumental at the start of it before Freddie actually kicks in and starts to sing.
I'm Going Slightly Mad, I feel is portraying how Freddie was feeling at the later stages of his illness, being one biscuit short of a full pack and other various lines that make you think that he is losing the plot a little. With the lyrics "I'm Going Slightly Mad, It Finally Happened" leaves you to think that he knew this was going to happen, wasn't sure when it was going to but eventually did.
Headlong reminds me of the tracks that were done in the 80's. A quite catchy track that really gets you singing along and a typical Queen track.
I Can't Live With You starts with a really good section from Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Taylor, the three all put together are absolutely fantastic. This is one of my favourite tracks on the album, very catchy, great lyrics that are telling a story once again.
"I don't know what time it is, all I know is I Can't Live With You"
Delilah
This is a track that I don't particularly like but can't associate myself with. Delilah was Freddie's Siamese Cat which he adored so much and was going to leave behind.
"You make me so very happy when you cuddle up and go to sleep beside me"
"You are the Apple of My Eye"
"You make me smile when I'm about to cry"
Its quite a sad track really, and if you are big Freddie fan then you can understand where he is coming from.
The Show Must Go On is the final track and is basically saying that no matter how ill he is, he is still going to put that show on. The video to this particular track is made up of various cuts from different tracks throughout the years as Freddie was too ill to be filmed. This was the song to the end of an era and he fulfilled and made his fans proud of him right until the end.
"The Show Must Go On, inside my heart is breaking, my make up may be flaking, but my smile still stays on."
I was bought up with Queen, and I must admit I really love this album, purely because its a life story, more so than the rest of the albums that have been produced. A great album, which we thought would be the last but Queen will still live on.
Advantages: 10 great songs that showcase the talents of Queen to the full Disadvantages: 2 songs about Freddie's cats
...months after it's release, but Innuendo was Queen's final album before Freddie Mercury's untimely death in November 1991. It's an album which is possibly the best work the band put together since 1984's The Works.
Innuendo the opening track gave the band their 2nd Number One single in the UK chart (following 1975's Bohemian Rhapsody) and is almost as masterly as Bo-Rhap. The song has a very flamenco feel to it in parts and is quite unique.
I'm ... ...penned track about the illness which was to lead to his death. A humorous take on coping with enforced changes.
Headlong is just what Queen do best. Rock! It's unfortunate that this song could never been performed in a stadium, because it would have surely become a live classic in years to come.
I Can't Live With You is again quite a rocky song. Some people have interpreted the lyrics to be about Freddie's illness, while others assuming it to be ...

Advantages: Great songs, diverse songs, good quality. Disadvantages: None
I first had Innuendo on cassette, it was from Woolworths and it wasn't a good copy. However, I did eventually purchase it on CD. It is an excellent album from beginning to end. Each song is magnificantly constructed with many different chords. "I Can't Live With You" and "Don't Try So Hard" I find euphoric. "Innuendo", "The Hitman", "Headlong" being the big tunes in my opinion.
It is true British musicians at their best. The album sleeve is attractive ... ...see him, but to listen to the music instead. Brian's guitar work is very impressive, John's bass exciting and the use of good drums. Freddie's vocals as always are top notch and quite similar to his style early in his musical career, which in my opinion is better.

Genre is basically Rock/ Alternative.

1991 was a strange year for Queen. Twenty years after they'd first started out as a group, they released this offering - Innuendo. A twelve-track album, showing a mixture of new heights for the band and also some really below-par album fillers. The year started with the release of the title track as a single, giving the group their first Number One on their own since Bohemian Rhapsody in the 1970's, as well as a joint effort with David Bowie in the early 1980s with Under Pressure.

Advantages: A fantastic finale to a glittering career Disadvantages: There will never be another like it
Almost any Queen fan will undoubtedly list Innuendo amongst their favourite of the band’s albums. It was their final studio album recorded together before the untimely death of Freddie Mercury in 1991. Its release, earlier that year, preceded his death by only a few months. Although several Queen albums have been released since, namely “Made In Heaven”, an album containing new material, most of which, however, was cobbled together from Freddie’s vocals gained from various sources, and “Queen Rocks”, a compilation of their more rock orientated tracks, I will always regard “Innuendo” as their ‘final’ album, and it is certainly a dramatic finale to their 20-year career.

Advantages: Showcases Queen's talent to the max. Disadvantages: Their final 'proper' studio album
Having clocked up a few miles driving during the last week or so I've had a lot of time to listen to music in the car. A quick raid on the cd collection unearthed a right royal gem, Queen's 1991 release Innuendo.
Unfortunately, this was to be the last album which Freddie Mercury 'recorded' with the band, as he was to sadly pass away later on that year at a sickeningly early age. This sad event robbed the music world of one of its most unique talents and 'larger than life' characters. What makes this album even more remarkable is that, Freddie was already chronically ill during recording. A fact which was highlighted upon the albums release, when we got to see the gaunt images of Freddie in the promotional videos.
Incidentally Queen are:-
Freddie Mercury (lead vocals and keyboards)
Brian May (guitars, keyboards ...
Queen: Freddie Mercury (vocals, keyboards); Brian May (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Roger Taylor (vocals, keyboards, drums, percussion); John Deacon (bass, keyboards). Recorded at Metropolis Studios, London, England and Mountain Studios, Montreaux, Switzerland. INNUENDO would turn out to be Queen's swan song, as it was the last album released during vocalist Freddie Mercury's lifetime--he passed away several months after the album's release. Expanding on the successful back-to-basics sound of 1989's THE MIRACLE, INNUENDO was another solid outing. And like it's predecessor, it contains several tracks with lyrics that are clearly autobiographical for the band and especially Mercury, particularly "These Are the Days of Our Lives" and "The Show Must Go On," which deal with the topic of mortality. Not all of INNUENDO deals with serious topics, however--"I'm Going Slightly Mad" and "Delilah" both contain humorous lyrics and were designed to be taken lightheartedly. The epic title track, which opens the album, is an instant Queen classic on first listen, built similarly in structure to past Queen classics "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Somebody to Love." A pair of wonderful hard rockers, "The Hitman" and "Headlong" can be found on INNUENDO, as can a couple of lush ballads--"Don't Try So Hard" and "Bijou." Looking back, Queen went out on a definite high note with INNUENDO.
