Big Fish in a Big Pond
Review of Vigil In A Wilderness Of Mirrors [Digipak] [Remastered] - Fish by  david_1967

Advantages: Great lyrics and some wonderful tracks
Disadvantages: It was all downhill from here

...records, to design his record sleeve. Track Listing 1. Vigil in a Wilderness of Mirrors 2. Big Wedge 3. State of Mind 4. The Company 5. A Gentlemans Excuse Me 6. The Voyeur (I Like to Watch) 7. Family Business 8. View from a Hill 9. Cliche 10. Jack and Jill 11. Internal Exile 12. The Company (demo) 13. A Gentlemans Excuse Me (demo) 14. Whiplash The title track is probably the song that pays the greatest homage to his days with Marillion coming in at nearly nine minutes but the others, apart from a couple of other tracks are all within the five minute margin. Once again it is the lyrics which mark Fish out from the rest of the crowd and, ever since 'Misplaced Childhood', these seem to have become a lot easier to follow and as a consequence have become a touch more open and honest. The future of modern tango music
Review of La Revancha Del Tango - Gotan Project by  mimi_solei

Advantages: Great Modern Tango music
Disadvantages: Only 10 Songs

...Intro: I bought this in Buenos Aires after hearing it played in a shop. The Gotan project cleverly uses a mixture of traditional instruments such as the violin and banadeon to create tango sounds mixted in with both electronica and modern beats to offer a new take on tango music. Background: Initiated by Philippe Cohen Solal and Edouardo Makaroff in 1999, with Christoph H Muller joining immediately, Gotan Project saw the light of day with the release of their first 10 inch in February 2000 on Ya Basta!, Solal's label. The project which gathers on record, as well as on stage, top Argentinean musicians exiled in Paris, is experiencing an incredible international success with the release of their first album "La Revancha Del Tango". To date, nearly 1 000 000 records have been sold in the whole world . Their current live tour is taking them... Read review

A dark horse
Review of Exile On Main Street - Rolling Stones (The) by  jamiegiles

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

...Greeted with decidedly mixed reviews upon its original release, Exile on Main Street has become generally regarded as the Rolling Stones' finest album. Part of the reason why the record was initially greeted with hesitant reviews is that it takes a while to assimilate. A sprawling, weary double album encompassing rock & roll, blues, soul, and country, Exile doesn't try anything new on the surface, but the substance is new. Taking the bleakness that underpinned Let It Bleed and Sticky Fingers to an extreme, Exile is a weary record, and not just lyrically. Jagger's vocals are buried in the mix, and the music is a series of dark, dense jams, with Keith Richards and Mick Taylor spinning off incredible riffs and solos. And the songs continue the breakthroughs of their three previous albums. No longer does their country sound forced or kitschy... Read review
