Travis recently released their eagerly awaited new album Invisible Band, and what an excellent piece of work it is. If you have ever heard the previous albums, Good Feeling and The Man Who, you might not enjoy this album as much, the songs don't have a lot of individuality and there isn't much to tell it apart from anything else in the market of a similar genre. That said there are 3 songs that really do stick out on this album.
Sing is one the songs you will have heard almost non stop on radio stations all over the place, and why not, it is a superb song. It does bare a lot of similarities to Turn, but if it aint broke? Next up is Side, a fantastically written song that hopefully will be released in the near future. Probably the best song on the album in many people's eyes, Side has a wonderfully mellow tune, and you will sing along to it, that comes as standard with the Travis package. Flowers in the Window makes you feel alive, it reminds me of almost a 60's hippy love tune, mainly because it's slow but quirky and has a lovely feel to it. Your mum WILL like this song, infact she will probably like the whole album, not too sure whether that's a good thing or not, I'm still undecided.
If you have ever wanted an album to sleep to, this is the one. It's so slow and mellow it will send you into a trance. Somehow Travis still manage to make it exciting, not boring. It is an endearing trait that will make you love them, and this album is definitely worth the money. F or a first time listener this album will sound pretty amazing, there's nothing bad you can say about them. The older fans will probably stick with The Man Who and Good Feeling for Travis' best music, but if you want to be gently thrust into their world, this is a perfect album to start with.
