Ah, that hardy perennial--the soundtrack to a film that hasn't been made. But ... more
wait--there's a history to Invisible Soundtracks: Macro 3 that ranks it apart from the tedious copyists that have made "cinematic" their catchword ever since the release of Portishead's Dummy. A project of the Leaf Label--one of Britain's bravest experimental dance imprints--the first Invisible Soundtracks compilation landed in 1995, draws inspiration from the precedent set by seminal ambient atmospheric works like Brian Eno's Ambient 1: Music For Airports. Satisfyingly, Macro 3 doesn't make a mockery of this lineage; casting the net wide, Leaf have collected together 16 specially commissioned tracks from artists across the globe. Toronto-based pianist Manitoba contributes "Anna And Nina", which apes, and stunningly, betters the loping jazz excursions practised by Four Tet; bass-toting avant-rock trio Rothko offer the gently undulating "Suddenly Becomes Light"; and Japanese sound innovator Susumu Yokota offers a light but affecting ambient shimmer on "Fancy Flavour". Put those cameras away: Invisible Soundtracks: Macro 3 maps out the cutting edge with sound alone. --Louis Pattison

Advantages: Good start to the cd with some household names Disadvantages: Tails off with filler tracks
Good film, good tracks. That pretty much describes this disc in a nutshell. Whenever you get an action comedy type film like this theres always a few interludes with dialouge from the film. This is no exception with 4 out of the 18 tracks lines from the film. 'What are you a cop or a model' is probably my fav. Will only hit home if youve watched the film though.
In my opinion, soundtracks can be a bit hit and miss. This goes the same way, some good tracks which could have easily been released as singles and some average fillers that you know will never listen to again. The tracks that P Diddy has had involvement in are far and away better
Show me your soul - P.Diddy, Lenny Kravitz, Pharrell & Loon. Single and video released. Good tune.
La-La-La - Jay Z. Remix of 'Excuse Me Miss' which got a lot of airplay and was a big hit in ...
Advantages: Great Songs You Remember From Films Disadvantages: Dancing The 'Hot Stuff' From 'The Full Monty'!!
I am a huge music fan, I have been since I was old enough to listen and since that day, I have had a diverse music taste, I cannot pin point my favourite genre and I find music very uplifting & I especially love music in films.
So, did you, like me, love the music used in Uma Thurman & John Travolta's dancing scene in 'Pulp Fiction', did you feel Donna Summer's 'Hot Stuff' dancing scene in 'The Full Monty' was great, did you love the hustle soundtrack to 'Lock, Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels'? Are you a Film Four fan? If you can answer yes to any of these questions, I am certain you'd find something you like on this album.
Essential Soundtracks was released back in 1999, the second year of my A-levels and I bought this CD in Woolies for a mere £4.99 for a 40 track double CD, I purely bought this for the more trendy numbers from ...
Advantages: Some good remixes and the price Disadvantages: Not many, some fillers but i suppose you get that with every album
This cd is an absolue bargain. I would highly recommend purchasing this as Bad Boy and Puff Daddy are well known for producing good remixes and the series of albums was a very good idea, another money spinning venture but one for the fans who had remixes on b sides of cd singles and recorded off the radio!
Special Delivery - G Dep, Ghostface Killah, Keith Murray & Craig Mack. Quite a repetitive tune but a cult favourite. More likely to hear it in the clubs
I Need A Girl Part 2 - Ginuwine, Mario Winans, P Diddy & Loon. Video and single released off the back of the successful part 1. Some say they prefer this version, i actual do and its one of the best tracks on the album
Bad Boy For Life - P Diddy, Busta Rhymes & MOP. A shouty version of the original. Not bad but too much going on lyrically for me, my ears couldnt take it
I Need ...
