Irish Rebel Songs - Various Artists

Advantages: Relaxing story telling music with a bit of heart
Disadvantages: Too boring

...OK album, with a nice mix of different artist most of which i have never hear of before. As you can probably tell I'm not usually into this kind of music but being someone always looking to expand my musical horizons, I thought i would give it a go but was not too impressed. Most of the songs featured were not too impressive, many of which sounded very boring and generic for the genre. Track 15, Green Fields of France - Furey & Davey Arthur was probably one of the most impressive tracks on the album; this song featured delicately sung lyrics and an impressive story which i think is based on world war 2. Some of the other tracks were almost up to this standard but were too boring and didn't catch my attention.... Read review

...-------------------------- Queen - I Want To Break Free - Sing along to this song whilst you are cleaning the kitchen sink "I want to break from my life", you won't escape the job but at least it will make it a little more pleasant. Ronan Keating - Life Is A Rollercoaster - Here is one for all those ex-Boyzone fans (yes I am one!). Time to run up and down the stairs whilst polishing the banister singing in your best Irish accent "Life is a rollercoaster just got to ride it, all night long." Well it won't take all night to get the housework done with this CD. Bangles - Manic Monday - We all have a manic Monday now again so listen to this one, the chore for this song is making the bed whilst you sing "These are the days when you wish your bed was already made". Advantages: Fantastic variety of genres to cover Chage & Aska's amazing legacy
Disadvantages: Some lyrics aren't directly or loosely translated from the originals

..., albeit in English which isn't his best language. Always been a personal favourite of mine. Track 10) Marianne Faithfull - Lies The original to this, "Lies", or "Uso" sung by Chage, is one of the most emotive songs they've produced. There is a real sense of loneliness and sadness caused by a lover, but at the end shows that life isn't so bad. Unfortunately Marianne Faithfull just sounds bitter as if she's out for revenge. The music is somewhat close to the original, but in my opinion was ruined by MF's vocals and poor translation of the lyrics. Track 11) Wendy Matthews - Walk The best cover by another artist on this track for Chage & Aska. Wendy Matthews put across an almost very good translation for Chage & Aska's "Walk". Really nice to listen to Overall, a good album. Chage & Aska and Wendy Matthews were the highlights... Read review
