Sorry, had to get that off my chest, having just sat through(well ok I did pick up a magazine by halfway) what must surely rate as one of the most appauling movies made in the 90s. IronEagle3 is one of the reasons that movie sequels have such a bad name. The original concept of IronEagle was little more than a lame attempt to cash in on the success of Top Gun by showing fighter jets whizzing about doing fighter jet type things with ever-so macho pilots being very manly and testosterony all over the place. It was relatively entertaining but hardly the kind of thing you would have expected to spawn a sequel - or for that matter 3 sequels! Yes, even after IronEagle3 bombed miserably and rightly so, they still managed to find a studio interested in a 4th...the mind boggles but ...
Advantages: Um... the soundtrack's not bad... Disadvantages: ... where do I start?!?!
Top Gun was a very enjoyable movie that had more cheese than a city-sized pizza. IronEagle, on the other hand, has enough cheese to top a pizza the size of Jupiter even if that pizza had extra cheese and cheese-stuffed crusts. Top Gun is, by comparison, almost a vegan option.
That's right, a film that makes one of the cheesiest films of the cheesiest decade in history (the eighties, as if you need telling) look remarkably straight-laced. IronEagle could induce lactose intolerance in a creature that customarily swallowed entire solar systems whole.
The Plot (for want of a better word)

Advantages: Intensely romantic, atmospheric, a brief display of a future filmmaking genius Disadvantages: Borrows ever so slightly from Wong Kar Wai's CHUNGKING EXPRESS
he feels it's time for him to leave respectably. With one house in particular, however, not leaving a trail behind proves to be more difficult after witnessing a husband beating his beautiful wife. As the unhappy wife cowers from her husband's wrath, he shows himself. The husband, affronted by an intruder, follows him out into the garden whereupon he's treated to a torturous, sickening comeuppance: the young man drives the husband's own golf balls smack into his crumbling body with a 3iron golf club. The bruised and battered wife, without saying a word to her husband as he gasps for breath in the garden, silently joins the young man on his scooter. They drive off into the night and suddenly home-inhabiting doesn't seem so lonely a life after all, as long as they're together.
A warm, astonishing film from an astonishing director, 3IRON ...
