Advantages: brilliant crime story you won't want to put down Disadvantages: If you haven't read the previous books you may lack some background
This is the forth book in the Roy Grace series and I was very pleased to receive it for Christmas as I have read the other three. You do not need to have read the others though as this stands fine on it's own as a stand alone story but you would have more background into the characters if you had read them.
The story centres around the discovery of a skeleton in a storm drain in Brighton, a man caught up in the 9/11 disaster and a woman on the run. The book starts in the present day with the discovery of the skeleton and Superintendent Roy Grace being called to the scene. The skeleton appears to be about 9 years old which causes Grace to worry that it may be the skeleton of his wife who disappeared that long ago and has never been seen since. The arrival of Sean is not welcomed by Will Dansher as he wanted to buy the land but was never sold it.
Sean meets a beautiful lady called Mary Kate and he falls for her ...
illustrate the deception of one character pretending to be another on e-mail. It's less successful when used for Holly's on-line musings because her BLOG is only used intermittently and because no-one responds to it, there's no real sense that it's her only link to other people. His filmic world is determinedly sunny, like he disposition of his characters, which all conspires to make this an insipid tweenager film. However, he stops short of shooting New York in a tourist office way, presenting Brooklyn as a place where people really live and work. His pacing is slow and predictable, leaving you in no doubt of the inevitable happy ending. He never has the guts to give any of the teenage ...
