Advantages: Enjoyable folk music Disadvantages: Not to eveyone's taste
I have been watching this group for a number of years, they originally started perfoming in 1976, and their first live show in a theatre was at St Helens Theatre in 1978.
The HoughtonWeavers have released many albums since they first started, but this album has a varied track list which include some old and new tracks.
Track 1- Ballad Of Wigan Pier
This song tells about Wigan Pier, in the olden days, it talks about wigan Pier really being a pier, but if you know wigan at all,the pier is in the centre of town, so its quite ironic really.
Track 2- Where do we go from here
This is about what people were deciding to do after the war,because in the olden days eveyone used to say 'where do we go from here'.
Track3 - We want to work
This track tells about people who are finding it hard to find work, beacuse of the shortage ...
Advantages: many different songs telling very different stories Disadvantages: none
that it is better than they thought it would be, as it tells so many different stories througout the album,
all i can do is recommend that you listen to the album,
if you have never listened to folk music before you will not be disapointed.
i really enjoyed this album, i found it very inspiring especially as there are so many stories within the songs, and as i am a fan of the group i go and watch them regularly, this isn't their latest album, but it is as good, i enjoy listening to The HoughtonWeavers, as they are very funny when they are on stage, and their music is very good. ...
Advantages: Something different to lisen to Disadvantages: Not everyone's taste in music
of The HoughtonWeavers, which is overlaid on a very old photograph of Blackpool Tower, but if you look closely you will see that they have put the recent picture of the Weavers into the old photograph of the tower, very clever.

1 - The Blackpool Belle - (written by H.broadbent / J Smith), this tells of when on a night out you went to Blackpool with your friends, and enjoyed, then ice-cream parlours, kiss me quick hats, and the tunnel of love, but the always caught the last tram home, this is why is was known by everyone who caught the tram as the Blackpool Belle.
