Advantages: It's real music.... Disadvantages: Region 1 only
During a 10-week lay- off while on tour with Sting for his "Brand new Day" album, the featured solo artist on the tour ChrisBotti rented a house in the Hollywood Hills to write and record his "Night Sessions" album, 4 weeks to write and 6 weeks to record and mix.
With this short period of time Chris said, " he felt energized by the challenge" he asked his friend Kipper (who won a Grammy for his production on Sting's album Brand New Day) to co-write and produce, they stated to write and at the end of the writing sessions only recorded the material as the lights of the L.A. basin began to glow and as the sun set and only stopped when the sun came back up the next morning.
On December the 3rd 2001 ChrisBotti took to the stage of the "EL REY" theatre in L.A. to celebrate the release of the "Night Sessions" album, his first release ...
Advantages: This is cool music Disadvantages: It may take a few plays.
For his 1997 release ChrisBotti assembled the pretty much the same stellar cast of musicians as he used of his previous recordings.
This album has 9 tracks that are new and 1 previously released song that appeared on the soundtrack to the film “Caught” this being the song with Jonatha Brooke on vocals called “Forgiven”.
To begin this collection the instrumental track “The steps of Positano” starts the album off, this has a familiar feel to it as just like his previous 2 releases the music is all atmosphere, this is perfectly conveyed by the brushed cymbal playing of Jerry Marotta and the keyboard skills of Paul Joseph Moore (of the “Blue Nile” fame) and Mr Botti himself who plays the same themes as the keyboards but with sensuous trumpet playing.
The next track is a song co ...
Advantages: Great atmosphere, good sound. Disadvantages: Could have listened to more, but this is not really a disadvantage, more praise!
Wow
I love music but never would have said I had any interest in trumpet players until recently.
I stumbled upon ChrisBottis music but accident and boy am I glad, his mellow layed back jazz is universal, and chilling.
I got this DVD as quickly as I could after first hearing his music and its great, just turn the lights down and its like being in your own jazz club with some of the biggest names in pop etc if that makes sense.
Chris backed sting during a tour and he appears in this DVD with a fantastic version of Funny Valentine which he sings to his wife in the audience.
ChrisBotti is great, and having seen this I only hope I get to see him live some day. ...
Inspired by the country of its title, trumpeter Chris Botti's 'Italia' is a musical evocation of romance and an exploration of the territories between the classical and jazz worlds. Mellower, more reserved cuts such as the interpretation of Ennio Morricone's 'Gabriel's Oboe' showcase the accomplished languid style Botti has become synonymous with, while 'I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face' sees Botti's smooth jazz influences shining through on a track that features a 1957 recording of Dean Martin's vocal performance. A wide-ranging effort, 'Italia' is a versatile and relaxed addition to Chris Botti's canon.
