is difficult to know where to begin. Primarily, of course, their greatest value lies in the comprehensive coverage of a given region, and the updated edition of The Rough Guide to Italy is a classic example of this excellent all-inclusiveness, with over 1000 tightly-packed pages of information, maps and photos. Then, of course, there is the famous Rough Guide accessibility: intelligently laid-out indices make finding the desired destination or sight (whether it's Michelangelo's David in Florence's Academia or the erotic frescoes in Pompeii) the easiest thing imaginable. But what the Guides are really famous for (and thankfully this new Italian guide has in abundance) is their wonderfully unstuffy and cutting-edge attitude to their subject countries. It is, in fact, this intelligent edge that has most of their rivals looking musty and old-fashioned. Anyone wishing to sample the style of Rough Guide Italy could do no better than to turn to the section on Rome, where a perfectly judged introduction to the city's history is balanced by highly useful off-the-cuff information such as the difficulty of getting anywhere very fast in the Eternal City. It's this frankness that is less often found in other guides, and this (along with the impeccable scholarship and a diamond-sharp evocation of a sense of place) makes this the one Italian guide you will need. Some might claim that illustrations and photos are rather sidelined in order to accommodate more text, but that's precisely the idea: these are, above all, guides to help you find your way around Italy (or wherever) with the greatest possible ease. If you want masses of colour photographs--why not go and take them yourself? --Barry Forshaw
countries. From the capitoline museums in Rome and the stylish shops of Milan to eating Pizza in Naples and watching the spectacular Palio race in Siena this guide captures all of Italy's highlights in a full colour introduction. The top hotels bars and restaurants are all uncovered in the detailed listings section with the new 'Author's Pick' feature highlighting the very best options. The guide also takes a detailed look at Italy's history art and groundbreaking film industry and comes complete with maps and plans for every area. The Rough Guide to Italy is like having a local friend plan your trip!
Advantages: AMAZING CD AND BOOK Disadvantages: none
...this is such a briliant cd and book guide. i would highly reccomend this to all indian musicians and people interested in studying indian classical music , specifically north indian aka hindustani music. it has a deep explanation of the basics of indian music so that you can truly appreciate the ragas (melodic structures) and talas (rhythmic cyles) and more features unique to indian music. the cds are also great as they are thoroughly explained in the book and you can even play the music on your western or indian instrument as the music is written in the book in western notation. the cds are not only great to listen to to learn the music side but are also great performances by some of the most distinguished artists in india....

Advantages: Many different types of rock and fantstic artists - the best of 2006 and 2007 Disadvantages: Could have more hardrock artists in and and second CD hasn't as much good artists in
...A fantastic CD with lot's of different kinds of rock. The best bands of 2006 and 2007 put in one CD. Artists like Snow Patrol, Razorlight, The Fratellies, The Arctic Monkeys, Automatic, The Ordinary Boys, The Killers, Keane, Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs, The Kooks and the list goes on. Has two CD's and has 40 tracks, 20 on each CD. Has new up coming artist such as Wolfmother. has many artists winners from the Brits: The Killers who won best national CD and best national band, The Arctic Monkeys won best British CD and best British band. The Fratellis won an award too and many more Brit award winning artists. A fantastic purchase well worth its money. A great buy. I recommend definitely to people anywhere between 8 and 100 if they enjoy that kind of music. It even has some live performing artists such as 'The Arctic Monkeys' on tour...

Advantages: Relaxing story telling music with a bit of heart Disadvantages: Too boring
...OK album, with a nice mix of different artist most of which i have never hear of before. As you can probably tell I'm not usually into this kind of music but being someone always looking to expand my musical horizons, I thought i would give it a go but was not too impressed.
Most of the songs featured were not too impressive, many of which sounded very boring and generic for the genre.
Track 15, Green Fields of France - Furey & Davey Arthur was probably one of the most impressive tracks on the album; this song featured delicately sung lyrics and an impressive story which i think is based on world war 2. Some of the other tracks were almost up to this standard but were too boring and didn't catch my attention....
