This is by far not an album that I would have normally purchased, however I was browsing on Amazon and ended up here via a series of clicks, often what happens and before I noticed I had clicked too far and bought the album as it was very cheap.

Apprehensive at first as my memory of JJ72 is from years ago when they got over played on the radio, I remember that voice and thinking what a horribly whiney bunch of garble, I now know the voice to belong to Greaney.

Great start to the album, oxygen and willow, deeply relaxing tracks with great inclusion of the violin, always like to hear that on a popular music album. And here I'm glad to hear Greaney's voice is not piercing my ear drums but is being used very well, reaching and straining with the music and not dominating the music.

Things go down hill with Surrender, track 3. It kicks in with high pitch humming and there is that voice within one minute dominating and leading the music downhill, it's similar to the noise of a cat being strangled. However, I do like the guitar tab of this track.

Snow, now this is what JJ72 should focus on and work upon. The lyrics actually mean something under close inspection, Greaney actually uses his emotions here and sounds fairly annoyed when he's crying "why wont it snow", very pleasing that he portrays the songs feelings.

The album travels along these lines for the next couple of tracks, 'Broken Down' and 'Improv' both being acoustic in feeling with little added on in the recording process, these tracks feel clean. These tracks are by far the best of the album and are the reason I dust this album off on occasions to listen to.

'Algeria' is the first time I really notice the drummer. There are good beats with drums clearly setting the pace of this track, the pedal drum getting a good work out. However, as soon as the symbols get a work out there is just far too much noise going on, symbols, Greaney's voice and synthesiser and more, the ultimate low point!

The final track Bumble Bee doesn't do much better.

This album is one of those albums that is going to be listened to solely for a few tracks, however if you are into bands such as Starsailor and the Manic Street Preachers probably a wise buy. On Amazon I arrived at this album from Placebo and I am not so sure JJ72 are so good if you like Placebo to much uncontrolled noise.
