Advantages: Well thought out story Disadvantages: sometimes shallow
told a little more background and what she thought of the characters she had created.
I was also impressed with the authors professionally designed and very detailed web site. So often authors who write great books but do little on the web to push their books disappoint me. Jackie even has a Facebook page that a fan can use to keep up to date with all her news.
I can't tell you how this compares to other novels by this author as this is the first I have read from Jackie Collins.
Conclusion
I really enjoyed my introduction into Jackie Collins novels. It was an interesting, developing story that was easy to get into and enjoy. In some ways the book did lack depth in the description of the scenes and the places the stars visited. I am sure I will try another of her books and I might even go into the same Bookshop in the hope I ...
Advantages: Characters Disadvantages: Tarantion isn't for everyone
the influence of the media and guns on crime in America. Well, I say discuss, but it is actually Jackson that does most of the talking about how everyone wants to be a killer just because they saw it in the movies. De Niro just sits here, quietly nodding in response to what Jackson is saying, but part of the fun is depicting his personality from his physical reactions. During the commercial, he notices Ordell's blonde "associate" resting her toes on the rim of his glass on the coffee table, quickly begins to feel agitated, and sits up to move it. Tarantino wants you to pay attention to little things like this in the picture. The detail really is quite intriguing.
Of course, the writing wouldn't shine through without some good performances from the film's actors. Jackie Brown boasts not only an all-star cast, but an all-star cast with some strong ...
Advantages: Original ideas, doesn't take too long to read Disadvantages: Quite dark in terms of tone and mood
This is the first piece of work I have read which has been written by Jackie Kay, and i found that the plot and ideas in 'Trumpet' were so original that I would have no idea what to expect if i were to pick up another novel or poem of hers - I'm not sure if this is a good or a bad thing..
Firstly, a main summary of the novel itself . The plot is based on a famous saxophone player named Joss Moody, who has recently passed away, much to the grief of his wife and son. There is a major twist, though - Joss is not the person everyone thought he was. He was hiding a major secret about himself from the rest of the world (one which I won't reveal in my review).
The novel deals with the aftermath of his death - the first part is narrated by his wife, who is trying to deal with home life. Her part in the novel covers flashbacks to when she ...
