...I'd like to tell you something about Jacques Brel, about the sound of his music, the anger of his (so many) political battles, the way he exposed to the ridicule the hypocrisy of all those practising Catholics who frequent churches only to appear... I d like to make you feel - to feel with heart and soul - his immense love for life and for love in itself and perhaps, with the help of the words of his beautiful songs, I could give you an idea of who this immense Belgian poetry was but... .... but if you have never felt him sing 'Ne me quittes pas', or if you have never seen him plays 'Mes prènoms de Paris', with his sweet smile and that sarcastic light in the eyes, (so that you could never be sure if he was teasing, or if he really believed in what he was doing), well? if you really don't know nothing at all about him, if for you... Advantages: A classic collection of Jacques Brel songs
Disadvantages: Only 11 tracks

...Ne Me Quitte Pas is a concise collection of only 11 tracks, but they are some of Brel's finest songs including the famous title track. All are original Brel compositions. I think the album was originally produced in the early 1970s. The CD was released in 2004. The songs on this album exemplify Jacques Brel's song writing talent as well as his ability as a performer. Brel seemed to possess an acute perception that led him to be an innovative lyricist who was able to portray everyday life in a truly poetic light. It was in Parisian cafes in the 1950s that Brel crafted his song writing technique and it was on stage in seedy back street cabarets where he first captivated audiences with his virtuoso manipulation of language and somewhat quirky nervous stage presence.
