Jacques Thibaud in Concert

Advantages: If you like Bach, the piano or jazz you'll like it
Disadvantages: Just the one tune that I don't care for

...Many Jazz musicians train their fingers by playing Bach in various styles and at various speeds - I played Bach not only for the training but because I liked the harmonies, chord changes and arpeggios. Jacques Loussier has taken playing Bach to an art form. I like this album only and NOT volume 2. The original Play Bach album contains most of bach's better known works such as His Toccata and Fugue, also the 1st and 2nd preludes and the 1st and 2nd fugues, hair on a G string (joke) and Jesu joy of man's desiring. This really is a cracking album with the trio (including bass and drums) really jazzing up bach and playing some pieces with phenominal speed, cool showmanship and originality. ...Hear the name Les Rythmes Digitales and you will probably think it's some obscure french band. Les Rythmes Digitales are a band but they are not French..far from it. The mastermind behind the band is DJ ace and master remixer and producer Jacques Lu Cont aka Stuart Price who was brought up in England. Having parents who were classically trained pianists didn't stop the young Stuart Price from following his electronic dream. Born in the late 1970s in Paris when his parents were on a trip to the city (this is his french connection!). He had a passion for music and accquired his first synthesiser at the tender age of 11. Next he got himself a set of keyboards and set about making himself a homestudio, no mean feat for a teenager. Advantages: Great Broad Choice of Tunes

...Think electro, house, 80s style synth pop with a bit of rock thrown in for good measure and you have pretty much got what this mix cd is all about. I know I usually review rock/indie albums but this cd was such a great discovery I really had to share it with everyone. I first discovered Jacques Lu Cont through my brother who is a big fan of dance music, not cheesy Euphoria, rave style stuff but respectable, credible house, electro and techno. So he told me to have a listen to this cd and I was blown away. Jacques Lu Cont is not french contrary to popular opinion, born in Yorkshire in the late 70s, his real name is in fact the rather unassuming Stuart Price.
