Advantages: Great Milkshakes, Fabulous Vibe! Disadvantages: Price, Too Small, Only One Of Them In The World
on shakyjakes.co.uk they do NOT encourage you to order that!) - I know that sounds like it should feature in *The Bad* category, but my point is that there is something for everyone - even the most adventurous! If you are feeling fruity, there are some fabulous smoothie-style drinks. You can buy ice creams as well. You can have your drinks hot, too which is surprisingly nice! For first-timers, I recommend a Galaxy Caramel Milkshake, it's simply gorgeous. Also, they sell Shaky Jakes badges and hoodies, too (I'm not sure why, but it's quite cool...)
The Bad
The cafe is quite small, it only has around four or five small tables inside, which simply can't fit in all it's adoring customers! There is also outdoor seating, but that's not too good in the cold, wet, typical British weather! Also, at peak-time the queue can stretch for ages, but it ...
Advantages: A couple of tracks are quite enjoyable. Disadvantages: The album on the whole is really rather disappointing.
for the most part missing entirely in the 'In With The Out Crowd' album; the music just doesn't sound as good. Instead of forefronting the horn section, they have tried to implement guitars where horns would usually be, something I just can't get to grips with when listening to the album. To listen to, it is quite obviously the same band; just a less impressive version.
Although a lot of the album is quite frustratingly mediocre, there are a few tracks here that are worthy of a mention. 'Fall Apart' for example I feel is quite a powerful track and is one that I do quite enjoy. It is far from being Less Than Jake at their best and is really rather repetitive, however it is vaguely enjoyable and the guitars sound decent and the drumming is excellent as ever. 'The Rest Of My Life' is another of the tracks that stands out strongly to me. It is ...
Advantages: It's a compelling story for those who enjoy bleak themes. Disadvantages: The multiple voices could be a tad confusing.
This is a darkly brooding crime novel dominated by a feeling of quiet desperation, a feeling that is generated through the lives of the three lead characters. Jake Arnott does an excellent job of recreating the mood and attitudes of London in 1966, giving the mood an avid, energetic atmosphere. It's an optimistic tone with which to open and one that is squashed pretty quickly.
Arnott tells the story through the voices of his three main characters who, although they’re not exactly the good, the bad and the ugly, they each contain a little of those qualities. Frank Taylor is a cop desperate to advance up the ranks of the police force but is all too aware of the corruption within the ranks and can't quite remove himself from the taint; Tony Meehan is a writer, a freelance journalist, but he harbours dark and very disturbing ...
