J Dilla is one of the most under rated producers of our time; truely a great loss to the real hip hop community. Album Notes
Originally announced before J Dilla's death in 2006, JAY LOVES JAPAN was finally released in '07, giving fans of the revered hip-hop producer (aka Jay Dee, born James Yancey) another sampling of his emotive and inventive aesthetic. Much of the posthumous album is steeped in Dilla's vintage soul sound, as best exemplified by the cinematic "Can't You See," making it an intriguing addition to his impressive but tragically brief discography.
