Home is where the heart lies Advantages: fantastic voice and a chilled out feel Disadvantages: maybe too laid back in places There is a familiar concept banded around in musical circles known as… "The difficult second album". It is a phenomenon that rightly haunts many artists and there is good reason for it. Imagine you are a band or artist struggling round the circuit for years writing your material as your own whim and desire takes you, testing those songs in front of live audiences for years and then one day it happens, the contract is signed, the studio is booked ... ...very little, the problem arises a year later when the men in the suits call a meeting with you to say they want a follow up album that pushes you even further into the public eye, a few more singles like the last ones and a worthy follow up to the debut album. Now you have to replicate in a matter of months for this album what it was that you spent years over for the first album. Hence the concept of a difficult second album. Bloomin' Norah! Advantages: Some outstanding tracks. Disadvantages: Some rubbish. Norah Jones - Come away with me This album cost me a princely sum of 50p from Barnsley Sunday Market. The album, released in 2002 is still riding high in the jazz charts, and the only track I had heard prior to buying this album was 'Don't know why' which is certainly in the jazz style of ballads, and she has a jazzy voice to match. Kind Of Blue - Miles Davis Advantages: Virtuoso trumpet at its best Disadvantages: Only the re-released version has the sound quality it deserves ...record shop. I spotted "A Kind Blue" and instantly withdrew my wallet and the CD was mine. As readers you will probably like to know about the music is like! Well simply it is divine, some find Miles Davis's music too intense and muddled, but it takes either an uninterested listener to ignore this or a fascinated listener to understand and appreciate it, I hope that the buyer will lean towards the latter of these two opposites. ... The Album. Advantages: piano skills Disadvantages: piano solos too long Jamie never fails to amaze me. His vocal preformance on this album is really good and unique. His piano playing is really great, however, most of the piano solos are too long in my opinion and it gets a bit boring to the point where you have to switch song. Apart from that, the album is really relaxing. It has a mix of different types of jazz music and some of the songs are like ballad types and up-tempo types. They are really catchy and you will ... This recording could be memorable as well as the movies! Advantages: The music perfectly portrays the atmospheres of movies Disadvantages: No song with lyrics/ singer featured As written in the foreword written by Oscar winning director, Sydney Pollack, to this beautiful recording, "what needs to said in a film, and can’t be said with words or pictures, is finally said with music," the pianist Dave Grusin presents a "description" of all of that in a film. This well-seasoned musician wrote compositions for films and compiled in this album, music in which he signed to compose (Tootsie, On Golden Pond, The Champ—among others). ... ...“It Might Be You”, Grusin plays a beautiful piano solo performance, backgrounded by full orchestra that captivate as well.
