Advantages: Lovely bluesy stuff Disadvantages: Not much info included
You're never quite sure what you are getting when you buy a Gary Moore album these days, although I guess there is a bit of a clue in the title with this one.
There are very few sleeve notes to help out mind you, with six of the ten tracks credited to Gary, the others simply to James (Elmore?), Dixon (Willie?), Rush (not the band I don't think, more likely to be Otis) and Beech (no idea). More info would have been appreciated. Two of the tracks ... ...although the Otis Rush effort is confusingly one of them.
It is perhaps a tribute to Moore that his own compositions sit right at home with those by the blues masters, his Midnight Blues arriving seamlessly after Done Somebody Wrong and You Know My Love by messrs James and Dixon respectively. Ain't Nobody is more funkified (but in a good way) while Gonna Rain Today is very slow. That would be a ballad then.
Rush's All Your Love provides a great ...
Advantages: Guitar work out of this world. Disadvantages: Not enough people know about it.
...It is a collection of Ballads and Blues numbers and when I heard it for the first time, I had no choice but to turn up the volume and get totally lost in it. It is magnificant and encompasses everything a ballads and blues album should. Well worth the $8.99 paid on second hand items in Amazon. A wonderful addition to my collection of music.
COVER DESIGN
Super actually. Kind of sums up the mood of the album, a picture of a guitar and a blues background. ... ...music.
TRACK 1 - ALWAYS GONNA LOVE YOU - 3.54 A lovers regret of an old love, and knowing that the new love is not the same. Not one of the best of the album but sentimental for someone who wants to tell someone they will always love someone.
TRACK 2 STILL GOT THE BLUES FOR YOU 4.10
Want to listen to Gary Moore at his best. This song is it. The words are mellow and regretful about the past, and reflects so many of the feelings that all of us know ...
Advantages: A couple of good tracks Disadvantages: Too man poor or average songs
...haunting quality to his songs.
Corridors of power is one of his more successful albums and features many different styles, from traditional heavy rock, to rock ballad and to some blues.
Some of the better songs are:-
1. Always Gonna' Love You This is a rock ballad that starts off with a beautiful piano introduction and then finishes off in grand heavy rock traditions. This song is a powerful song, featuring deep lyrics, and could be considered ... ...combination of ballad and rock song make this an intriguing song and is one of the best on the album.
2. Wishing Well Another rock ballad that is beautifully sung and is a combination of heavy rock and ballad. The main song being heavy rock and the chorus being a lilting ballad!
3. Falling In Love With You A pure love song / ballad, this features a beautiful melody, some wonderful lyrics and some haunting guitar solos. It tells the story of a man ...
Advantages: Peter Greens skill is rediscovered in the form of Gary Moore Disadvantages: None
...love good music albeit the Blues and want to hear it played by actual musicians then "Blues for Greeny" is for you.
To honour one of the guitarists he admires Gary Moore has stepped away from his own high class musicianship and produces an album of Peter Green songs six of which can be found on the albums "Fleetwood Mac" and "Mr Wonderful" (see my reviews on these albums, (Early and More Early English Blues) and also puts in some lesser known songs ... ...my all time favourite slow blues songs.
Track 6. Same Way A strong song with a heavy base line that is complemented by Garys guitar and vocals with one of the best guitar solos I have heard for this type of song.
Track 7. Supernatural I feel that this song has a lot of Gary Moore style of guitar to it. Some notes are held in a similar fashion to "Parisienne Walkways" which was mad famous by Gary Moore but first done with Thin Lizzy. It is an instrumental ...
Advantages: Pure rocking-blues heaven Disadvantages: Eric Clapton's more famous.
...driven music extravaganza......I was right.
After Hours is an inspired album from an artist at his peak. Pure molten blues with the kind of edge to it that Eric Clapton can only dream of. Gary plays his Les Paul, incidently worth almost £30000, like theres no tomorrow, wrenching every last bit of emotion from every song, whether it was there or not in the first place. From "Cold day in Hell", a slight throw back to "Pretty Woman" from his last album, ...
