Slow Down! Its MoTown!
Review of Motown Ultimate Hits Collection - Various Artists by
Craigshadow12
Advantages: Some Classic hits, All on one collection
Disadvantages: Some hits missed out.
Being a huger motown fan i decided to purchase this album so i could have a collection of motown hits all on one CD. As i had heard most of the songs on the album before my purchase i knew what to expect and thus was not disapointed.
Each song on this album has its own upbeat rhythm and lyrics that will have you singing along for hours. The album has 46 tracks which is a good collection of motown hits to have. Many hits on the album can be hardc ... ...that there is a vast number of clasics hits not featured here. However if you are just getting into motown then this is a great place to start. For the more serious collector tho i would suggest like me you collect the records for that more classic and authentic feel. ...

Music not just for jazz fans
Review of Together - Emily Remler by
RippedoffPete
Advantages: Beautiful acoustic guitar music superbly played
Disadvantages: Very difficult now to get hold of as original CD.
One of my all time favourite CDs, Together is a jazz album featuring two American guitar vituosos, Larry Coryell and the late Emily Remler, and was recorded in 1985, and released on Concord Records.*
Coryell is the more famous and experienced guitarist of the two, having been around since the late 60s dabbling in rock as well as jazz His one claim to notoriety was in the UK in 1975 when he turned up unexpectedly on stage at an Eric Clapton ... ...unnecessarily causing him profound embarrassment. Emily Remler started her musical career in the late '70s.having been a scholarship music student at Berkeley University. She soon built up a reputation for herself in the jazz world, not only because of her ability, but because it was so unusual to have a talented female jazz guitarist on the scene.
On Together there are no other instruments involved other than acoustic or electric guitars, ...

Queen are the champions!
Review of Greatest Hits Vol.1 & 2 - Queen by
shamis4
Advantages: Amazing album with super songs
Disadvantages: a few bad ones in the middle
...awesome by using all the Greatest Hits from Queen (most if not all appear on this CD) and making a story out of it. I won't go into details about the show as that is not really relevant to the CD. But all I will say is that once the show had finished I left the theatre as a real Queen fan and I couldn't wait to get the CD!
I was actually rather fortunate as my Birthday wasn't too far away from Christmas and lo and behold I was given this CD that ... ...seen as one of the Greatest bands ever and released hundreds of CDs and have been estimated to have sold around 300 million copies worldwide. They are also famous for their live performance which greatly involve the audience participating and singing along - such as in We Will Rock You.
The CD (the important bit):
This CD is one of loads of different CDs that have been released by the band and has sold millions of copies worldwide.
It includes ...

Bloomin' Norah!
Review of Come Away With Me - Norah Jones by
paulhanton
Advantages: Some outstanding tracks.
Disadvantages: Some rubbish.
Norah Jones - Come away with me
This album cost me a princely sum of 50p from Barnsley Sunday Market. The album, released in 2002 is still riding high in the jazz charts, and the only track I had heard prior to buying this album was 'Don't know why' which is certainly in the jazz style of ballads, and she has a jazzy voice to match. Five Grammy's, twenty million plus sales, this has gotta be a cracking album right?
Coupled with the fact that she ... ...no life. 0/10.
5. Come Away with Me
First track on the cd written by Norah. A ballad like song with a change of vocal style for her at the beginning with an almost hushed voice...piano work is quite sublime. What this song essentially does is tells a dreamy longing by someone. Not my usual type of song, yet, there is something about the guitar work again, Asian and jazz influenced that makes me really like this, and her vocals really are quite ...

Poison Sweet Madeira - A Must Own Album
Review of Poison Sweet Madeira - Sophie Solomon by
Ottavia
Advantages: Lots of styles, really contemporary on some, more traditional on others.
Disadvantages: If you enjoy only house music then I wouldn't really say you'll like this.
.
Poison Sweet Madeira is an album of suprises. Each track differs in style but collectively they fit together perfectly. If you enjoy klezmer, jazz, classical or just something a little different then this ablum is perfect for you. If you don't strictly fit into any of these categories I'd recommend it to you as each of the people I've played it to have found something that appeals to them. It's such a mixed album that it trancends a rigid definition, ... ...middle eastern feeling. Poison Sweet Madeira is another mostly fast paced track, which is really dramatic. The violin is accompanied by harps and an arcordian which to me gives it a French feeling in parts. Quite the opposite, Burnt By The Sun is a bit more melow and sounds samba inspired. Richard Hawley on vocals. It's a really calmly sung but dramatic track, with great catchy lyrics. KT Tunstall features on Lazarus, with sultry vocals in one of ...
