Advantages: Some great lyrics set to fun tunes Disadvantages: None
...sights
We're out to late at night
We
Don't need you
We go out
By ourselves
We catch the bus
Into town
Into hell"
Track nine, Punka, is a fast guitar song about Punkas;
"I wanna be a Punka too
When I grow up if Punkas ever do"
Track ten, Nightlife, is another song about young people going out;
"I can't work with heavy coats
They're not revealing
Have to see each others clothes
So we're all freezing"
"We are HERE for your entertainment
... ...songs about being 16. Now at the ripe old age of 23 there is no point looking back on these songs as failures, there is no point trying to write a song about being 20 when you are 16" - I can't remember the exact quote but that was the theme of it. He also stated, hindsight is kind, it can erase errors or elevate them to the point of virtues - well said!
I would recommend listening to this only if this is your sort of thing and you would like to ...

How did I get this one?"
MAGNATRON
***************
This track starts with the sound of a drink being poured and then loud lively music. This is a song about the morning after the night before. Recovering from your hangover and calling in sick.
"When the day breaks and you're still sicking,
From the last night when you were drinking,
Sleep it off,
And get your mam to ring the lads at work,
And tell them that you're stopping off."
... ...certain place and wanting to get away.
"Theres not many places to go here,
I`ve seen them all,
Theres not many faces I know here,
The others I don't want to know."
SOMETHING'S GOT TO GIVE

I love this song as it's something so different. It's almost Jazz or Big Band and it's got some great lyrics.
"If I was a lady I'd have big plans,
Of a big man who isn't you,
As it is I follow like a lap dog,
Who just ...
Advantages: Very Few Disadvantages: Drastic wrong-turn for Gary
What the hell is this? Maybe I should have known from the title, but this is a radical departure for the rocker turned bluesman. Certainly, if I had looked at the sleeve notes (drums on only two tracks, and a credit for "programming" for all the rest) I may well have thought twice about shelling out for this new release from Mister Moore.
Yes, Gary has gone all electronic on us, completely forsaking his roots. Which doesn't necessarily mean that ... ...it, I have to come to the conclusion that he has. I have no problem with artists trying something new and fresh, but I feel that this was sold under false pretences. It's a bit like picking up the latest Hannibal Lecter novel, and finding it is a romance. Mind you, having just finished reading it... Painful as it is, let's go through the tracks:
"Go On Home" lent a bit of false hope as at least it has a bit of guitar, and "Lost In Your Love" has ...
Advantages: Straightforward rock Disadvantages: Nothing innovative
After the severe disappointment of "A Different Beat" - Gary's latest album - I treated myself to this cut-price live offering just to restore my faith in the guitarist.
Dating from 1986, although repackaged in 1997, this features 8 tracks recorded live in Japan (but you had already guessed that part right?). With a band line-up of Ian Paice, Neil Murray, John Slowman and Don Airey all playing real instruments, this couldn't fail to excite.

Advantages: Sumarises Miles in the 80s Disadvantages: Not very good.
In my quest to buy everything that Miles has ever put out (silly, I know), I bought this, right after Bitches Brew. Not BB I thought was a little disjointed and a little loose - could perhaps have done witha bit more focus / style / direction, but it was still genius. In this, everything I'd looked for to be added to Bitches was there, but unfortunately it was Eddie Grant does Miami Vice by trumpet - which wasn't great. The bass player is to be frank, ... ...and uit's in John Lewis toilets - it's just disgusting. All the chintsy beats and synth are there, but slowed down to a jazz stylee and then there's Miles' drug induced abstrat wanderings that leave you only foccused on how poor the session musicians are. That said - it's a good thing to have in the rack, and there's a couple of good tracks on there. If you're starting out in Miles, avoid this one, but if you're going decade by decade, then this ...
