Delightful Dudley

Advantages: Witty, funny, and brilliantly performed
Disadvantages: Too short and maybe a touch TOO funny

It's very difficult to make an unbiased report of any kind on music and art - especially when you are a real fan. This is my dilemma as a fan of Dudley Moore. Unfortunately, I have now lost one of my lifelong musical ambitions which would have been to see him play live in London performing some of his extensive classical repertoire. Dudley Moore is well known as a comedian (Beyond the Fringe, Pete and Dud, Derek and Clive and so on), and as an actor (Bedazzled, Arthur etc). He is less well known as a first class musician. Dudley was, in fact, a highly respected jazz musician, and also a classical performer. Critically, his classical performances were very highly renowned. Lots to do at Dudley Zoo!

Advantages: Great day out for the family with lots to see
Disadvantages: Looks a little rundown

Dudley Zoo first opened in 1937, and now stretches over 40 acres. The zoo is located a short walk from Dudley town centre (located in the West Midlands), and is not far at all from the bus station. There is no train station in Dudley but there are buses that run to and from many different places in the West Midlands located near by, including Birmingham and Wolverhampton. There is also a small car park next door to the zoo. Located on a hill, the castle is the remains of what was once a great building. The zoo is built around the castle and you automatically get free access to the castle upon entering the zoo. As it is located on a hill, there are some steep ramps and climbs in places which will make it difficult for wheelchair users to access. Jubilee Sailing Trust

Advantages: Great fun and super experience
Disadvantages: Not too good if you get really seasick

I first found out about the Jubilee Sailing Trust in the Southampton Boat Show. My Mum knew about it and was rather keen on me going on one of the trips so we took a brochure and a few weeks later I was booked aboard Tenacious for this summer to sail from Southampton to London. Before going on the trip I wasn't too keen or excited about the trip as I had never sailed before and it didn't particularly appeal to me. I will say now that I am extremely glad that my Mum pushed for me to take up this opportunity as I have leant so much from the trip as well as making loads of new friends and encountering new experiences. I now can't wait to go on another trip next summer - and hopefully an even longer one!
