Advantages: Great blues! Disadvantages: None. Whatsoever.
...I have to admit I found Johnny Winter totally by chance. I was in a record shop and saw a CD in a round, metal case. "Johnny Winter? The Texas Tornado? I'll buy that!" So I did.
What I found was a musician, Johnny Winter, who is a hard rocking bluesman of consummate skill. Johnny Winter is such a accomplished bluesman that I have to admit that it came as something of a shock to discover that Johnny Winter is a white Texan. Though he reveals that he hung out in the black part of his hometown in Texas, such was his fever for the blues. And, Winter maintains that it was his sincerity about his passion for the blues that meant that he was safe there. Even though Beaumont had not long before suffered form some terrible racially-inspired riots.
Winter's blue's sound as if they were recorded in the 1940s or 1950s. Actually, I was surprised...

Advantages: Totaly Definitive Album Disadvantages: None Whasoever Buy It and Make your life Better
...For definitive albums you don't get much more definitive than this one. Johnny Cash backed by the Tennassee three and others, playing to 2000 inmates and armed guards at Folsam Prison.
The album kicks off in fine style with "Folsam Prison Blues" with the tennassee three Boom-chicka-Booming in fine style and goes down a storm with the crowd. There is also a good selection of songs paying "tribute" to Johnny's toubled past, such as "Cocaine Blues" and the gallows humor of "25 Minutes to Go". Cash's bas baritone is also in fine form throughout the recording which is especially good on the very soulful rendition of "The Green Green Grass Of Home"
The album covers pretty much the whole of Johnnys repotire filled to the brim with songs about Murder, Crime, Drinking, Drugs, Love, Spirituality and Twisted Humor. This album is pretty much...

...married until the spring of 2003 when June died unexpectedly due to complications following heart valve replacement surgery. Less than 4 months later, on 12th September 2003, diabetes caught up with Johnny, his body failed, and his spirit was sadly set free. He was 71 years old when he died.
Johnny Cash's hits included "I Walk the Line", "Folsom Prison Blues", "Ring of Fire", and "Man In Black". He also recorded several amusing songs, such as "One Piece At A Time", "The One on the Right is on the Left" and "A Boy Named Sue", and all of these songs appear in this box set.
Johnny Cash is a musician who appeals to many different people, as he does not just fit into one genre of music. He recorded songs that could be considered to be rock, blues, folk and gospel, and he seemed to influence all of these genres in different ways. He is one of ten...
