Advantages: A few scarface film samples
Disadvantages: Nearly the whole thing

...Many people have been influenced by the scarface film and the rap genre has especially referenced to it man songs. This is now an official compilation of songs with money, power and respect themes. as you would imagine, all are rap. Put together in 2003, this def jam idea includes songs by Nas, Mobb Deep and Notorious BIG, some made especially for the album some old tracks that just fit. None appear in the film but there are samples and dialouge used from the picture. Tracks Its Mine - Mobb Deep & Nas. Scarface cues used as the sample in this one which was originally put t ogether in 99. A good relevant track to start the album Yeo - Cam'ron. Samples Rush Rush which is used in the film, rush rush get the yayo may be more familiar. best bit about the song is actually the sample with cam'rons raps not adding much but loads... Read review

Advantages: Brilliant indie as it should be

...This debut by the The Fratellis was released in 2006 to pretty critical acclaim and went straight into the UK charts in #2 (behind only Justin Timberlake). The Inlay sleeve cover (as can be seen above) has three women looking like their from the '60's and the booklet features lyrics, this can be very helpful to decipher tyhe singing in place ;-). The opening track is "Henrietta" which was their debut single and their first top 40 hit (reaching 19 in the UK and 6 in Scotland (the boys are originally from the town of Paisley, near glasgow). The track sets off the whole tone to the album with a high tempo feel, strong guitar and simple indie formula. The lyrics help set it apart from their contemporary's and introduce the album as fun indie. 10/10 The following track "Flathead" keeps the same formula and the song is perhaps... Read review

Advantages: I find it Very restful.
Disadvantages: Will not appeal to everybody.

.... Generally I have this station playing more or less continuously in my work room. I happen to prefer classic music though there are some modern artists that I do appreciate. Just when does a piece of music become "Classical"? This is contemporary and not classic in the sense that it is an older piece of music. However this is fully orchestrated music and has classical orchestral instruments used. The vocal talents of Hayley Westernra are used as are the talents of Lang Lang, a classical pianist. I find that the music is rhythmic and harmonious rather than minimalist and discordant as are some modern pieces. It would have been very easy when making this disc to separate each track by a short period of silence. As this was not done I can only assume that it is deliberate as these tracks blend seamlessly from one to another. The only period... Read review
