...Meek himself fiddling with the controls of some undoubtedly innovative device in his home studio, and some performance pictures of the band at various venues, including the Windmill Theatre, Great Yarmouth, and the NME Poll Winners Contest, 1963. ~ Where Can I Get It? ~ I was lucky enough to win my used CD copy on eBay for the modest sum of just £2.99 plus postage and packing, and there appear to be plenty more offers for the same recording available. It is also available used from Amazon.co.uk for around a £6.00. ~ Conclusions ~ All in all, this is a wonderful memento of the group's body of work, and a fitting tribute to the legend that is Joe Meek. ...Brill album, much better than the first Radio one live lounge album. All tracks have been previously played on the radio one live lounge with Joe Willie, but I never get a chance to listen to them all first time they are on the radio, so its nice to hear them all. Some tracks really funny and are all by well-known artist's. The artists and bands either record alternative recordings of there own songs or ones by other artists, which is really interesting. I really love the Amy winehouse - Valerie its a slower version and is really good. It features allot of the top 40 bands and gives you a chance of hearing unusual tracks that you would not normally hear from such band albums. Highly Recommended.... Read review

Advantages: Contains classic artists such as Odyssey, Brothers Johnson and Diana Ross
Disadvantages: Is a populist take on the disco era.

...This album is a broad yet typical retrospective of the commercial side of the disco era. Staples of the disco scene such as Chic and Earth, Wind & Fire feature here, yet in their most famous incarnations as opposed to the music that changed the face of the dance underground forever. There are rare stand out moments such as the highlighted Brothers Johnson classic 'Stomp' and Diana Ross's Chic penned athem 'Upside Down' however, overall this album is a good album for those that think of disco as a Car Wash style flares and afro 'Good Times' party. It's not for the connoisseurs of disco for whom any one of the Larry Levan or Joey Negro compilations would be better suited.... Read review
