Joe Satriani - also known as SATCH. Joe Satriani was born in Westbury, New York, and began playing guitar at age 14. Joe has 10 CD's so far (not counting the bootlegs). He started off with 'Not of this Earth' and his latest work is 'Engines of creation'. I rate this guitarist very highly. I had the pleasure of watching him at a Concert in London some years ago. His latest CD Engines of Creation has a track "Until We Say Goodbye" which has been nominated for a Grammy in the "Best Rock Instrumental Performance" category (category #19).I hope it does well for Joe. His on stage performance is personal and exciting. I swear he waved right at me! His album work is the best guitarist music I've ever heard... ever. You have to check him out. ...it. Summed up and faster more up beat and rocking version of friends. 10 = New Blues (6min58sec) I really do NOT like this track. I like almost all of Satriani's stuff but with all artists there are some that people don’t like - this is mine. Nasty introduction with synth trumpets and some weird sounding guitars lead into a single clean guitar, which is later joined by the lead guitar. A bluesy song in tradition, (Of which Joe’s roots are very much based in from his early days learning after he quit the high school football team the day Hendrix died. Just a little information for you along the way :-)) This song in my mind is the weak point on the album, and just seems to go on and on like a Duracell battery! It’s ok to fill time on the album, but maybe that was a little harsh. There are some good bits, but its not my cup of tea... Read review

Advantages: Amazing Guitarist

...This is the second instrumental album by the guitar legend Joe Satriani. It is very short at 37 mins and 42 secs, but is a master class in guitar playing. Satriani gives his guitars a voice and allows them to sing out on each track. 1. Surfing with the Alien. As the opening and title track of the album one expects it to be one of the best, this track certainly lives up to this expectation, it heralds in the rest of the album as is a perfect opening to this album. 2. Ice 9. This one of the funkier sounding songs on the album and beyond doubt the most emotional. 3. Crushing Day. As the second longest track on this disc one expects it to contain some of the newer more experimental techniques, not quite, as this is a very cheesy track that sounds as if it should be the theme tune a to film. 4. ...I was bought this album as a brithday present. I am into guitar music like Joe Satriani, King on Guitarist !!! I had heard a couple of his new songs in the UK charts and was keep to listen to it. WOW, great guitaring !!! The album is a mix of languages. The album also features artists like Eric Clapton and Eagle Eye Cherry !!!. My best track is Turn Your Lights On. The music combines the sheer brilliance of Santana with a new sound of the millenium. It is by far the best album he has created and that is shown by the 9 gramy's he won for creating it. I would reccommend this to all who enjoys good mellow guitar music. Thanks, Matt... Read review
