John Rutter - (The) Platinum Collection

Advantages: First time on cd for many tracks
Disadvantages: pastiche agenda limits wider appeal

...a dozen top tenners ,the unheard of but unforgettabe "Baby its you" sounding like a note perfect cover version of a song thet never existed provided the agenda for most of the first album included here ,and the nearly hit "Wonderful"with its flutes and strings still sounds fresh and innocent,and innocent being a perfect adjective to describe this enjoyable experience . Mostly remembered for her bee hive hair do and cod glamour ,"The Platinum Collection" offers a opportunity to show Mari Wilson in a more complimentary light ,being at least as entertaining as her contemporaries of the time like The Belle Stars and the Paul Weller sponsored Tracie!,the obvious nostalgic agenda can irritate after a while but then again this record is not designed for repeated plays merely quick bursts of sunday morning youthful recall. ...and the greatest hits I II and III in normal bold letters. Called the Platinum Collection this is in white and smaller text. Not the most inspiring cd cover i have seen but nonetheless its the music that counts. Inside is the 3 cd's displaying the same logos as on the front cover as these are the original album print. You then have an extremely comprehensive inlay booklet in platinum and displaying the Queen coat of arms logo. Each song has information of when written,produced by who,the album its from and all relevant information that you may need should you want to purchase more queen music. Advantages: many diverse musical styles, talented vocals, and wonderful musical arrangement
Disadvantages: none, so long as you enjoy choral music.

...’s a nice photo, but it’s not the most groundbreaking cover image ever. In black text at the top are the words John Rutter, all capitalized, with collection beneath in smaller letters At the bottom of the cover it names the choirs, and the back of the case reveals the song tracks. There is a small amount of information about Rutter and the choir in the sleeve booklet Availability and Cost ********************** This CD is available from Amazon at £12.48. It’s also available in most large music stores with a classical/choral music section.
