Advantages: Different, intriguing, virtually pan pipe free Disadvantages: Maudlin and sombre
.... A bit faster than the previous tracks and you can see the change in Susana's voice. She's less whispery and maudlin and her voice shimmers with confidence and sheer joy as her backing singers join in singing the title track. Her accent and pronunciation remain both alien and captivating to me. A joy and one for my i-Pod (if I owned one).

Shit! Duck! It's a pan pipe intro. Luckily they disappear as quickly as they arrive becausethe track is largely acapella with a little bit of bass to add volume. Her voice goes back to being mournful but she hits some low notes quite impressively on this song. Near the end, some percussion rattles in and Baca goes from deep voiced chanteuse to some quite thrilling falsetto notes as she sings the title.

Advantages: Interesting stuff, Some good music, Dylan Disadvantages: Can nag when in certain moods.
...The 1980s were a notoriously mixed bag of years for the legendary Bob Dylan. He started them in his born-again Christian phase, something even a lot of hardcore Dylan fans found hard to swallow as it seemed to go against everything he stood for and what they stood for. They were hard times really, and he'd been through a couple of reasonably average to poor albums in the bible-bashing vein before 'Oh Mercy'. Incidentally, whilst I don't agree with the sentiment I think 1979's 'Slow Train Coming' the first Christian phase album is a very under-rated album, it's actually great! And that's the interesting thing; from that first and most certainly excellent album of his new phase Dylan seemed to gradually be losing interest in his new direction. It started to fade away as quickly as it came.
There are those amongst the Dylan crowd who...

Advantages: A refreshing change from other UK rock bands Disadvantages: Sometimes a little bit too different from other UK rock bands
...favourite. Just check out the music video it's genious! The song opens with a groovy guitar which you hear on the chorus which is the feature of the song. The voice used in the song has had an effect place upon it to add to the strangeness but brilliance of the track.
A Good Idea at the Time - Very "Queen" orientated song i think. Lots of hand claps and heavy yet simple intro add to the greatness of this song. Bass Guitar is the most predominant instrument in this tune. Very good to air bass guitar to!
Oh Lately it's so Quiet - Probably the calmest song on the album, very nice to listen to after a night out. No snare drums in this song and its very well...quiet! A nice middle song to calm the so far very pacey album.
It's a Disaster - Drums build the song into a midpaced rock tune with bending guitar sounds which ultimately add...
