I confess I am 22 and a massive fan of Dolly Parton, I was brought up with her music along with Elvis and Patsy Cline…I was sitting here last night and felt a bit down and when I feel like rubbish I end up putting on this CD and just singing along to it, it is an all time favourite, even though she has had plenty of other CD outs after this one, this is an all time favourite CD of mine. When I talk to people about Dolly Parton it seems her songs Jolene and 9-5 always comes to peoples minds, but to me its all about the song "Harper Valley PTA"
The CD "Jolene - Her Greatest Hits" which was released in 1992, contains 14 tracks but that's enough to make me feel better and have me singing in my mirror with a hairbrush…yeah when I was 13, cant do all that now as I'd wake me little one up! God help her she will be raised with this music too… I give Dolly 10/10 for her music, she is amazing and all her songs are sang so heartfelt and as if she is singing it for you with some!
I practically nicked this CD of my mum, as I love it, I play it in my car on long journeys and I am one of those girls that you drive past and the mouth is going where I singing at high volume. The songs on the CD are very catchy and I had to be nosey on play.com and see how much it was going for, I was expected a £4.99 job but no it was there £2.99 what a bargain if you're a Dolly Fan and haven't got this CD. It has the classic D.I.V.O.R.C.E which I'm sure many of us know and have sang along the way…
Why buy a Dolly Parton CD I hear you ask?? Well you cant go wrong, I think no matter what your age is, you know at least one of her songs and they are catchy and a good sing along. Unfortunately the CD does not have the song 9-5 which many people know and to be honest I don't even know half the words to the song compared to all the tracks on this CD.
Tracks on CD
1. Jolene 2. I Will Always Love You 3. I Really Got The Feeling 4. Lonely Comin' Down 5. It's My Time 6. Harper Valley PTA 7. Here You Come Again 8. The Seeker 9. We Used To 10. Mama Say A Prayer 11. Lovin' You 12. Sweet Music Man 13. D.I.V.O.R.C.E. 14. Baby I'm Burning
You always hear about her new albums out the greatest hits etc…but this one has to be one to have for me, for all Dolly Fans compared to all her other album this is an amazing album with the oldies on it - the only songs missing which I would love on this CD is Joshua and Coat of Many Colours.
Dolly Parton is not only a singer but she has also acted in movies, The Best Little Whore House in Texas which was released in 1982, She was also in 9-5 the film. She has also been in TV programmes, I was flicking through the kids channel and there she was on Hannah Montana playing Hannah's God mum, Also she was the voice in Alvin and the Chipmunks as herself. Oh and she appeared in Miss Congeniality 2. She is one of the most successful country artist, She has had 26 number one singles and wow 42 albums in the top ten!! This woman has many talents, she has 7 Grammy awards and has been nominated for 42 Grammy awards. Is there nothing this lady cant do?? I also have the album that she was honoured with back in 2003 I think it was, where there are different artists that sang her songs "Just Because I'm A Women" it is called. There is just so much about this amazing lady that I would be here all day to write all her achievements. What can I say I'm a big fan!!

Advantages: Amazing original songwriting and very unusual version of Dolly Parton's Jolene Disadvantages: If you want a fast-paced, lively album, this is not it
...Fantastic album full of simple, haunting melodies that are slow and sad but amazingly uplifting. She has a soft, etheral voice and this is a fantastic album to chill out and relax to. Worth buying for her great cover of DollyParton's Jolene alone - a slow, moving version very, very different to the original. Most of the other songs are original compositions from this young Norweigan singer and they sound very fresh and new. Its also a fantastic present for any folky, alternative music lovers as its an unusual, quirky album. It is very difficult to get hold of in shops but definitely worth searching out. You should also look out for her album of covers including beautiful versions of Halleluliah, Its A Long Way To The Top and Love Will Tear Us Apart....

Advantages: music for every-one Disadvantages: none
...This is one of the rare compilations CD’s that actually has something for everyone. I first heard this album in our 6th form common room, its blend of 90’s chart music, with classics from the 60’s 70’s and 80’s included. This album was released a couple of weeks after the TV showing of Cold Feet, a 30 something sitcom about a group of friends who are bored with their jobs, marriages and friends. The songs cover all genres from the rock beats of Republic’s Ready to go, to Dance hits such as Fat Boy Slim. For the slightly older audience there is songs they will remember being hits such as DollyPartonJolene. It even includes disco classics such as raining men by sister sledge. It is the perfect album to play when getting ready for a night on the town or alternatively as background music while...

Advantages: Really lovely voice Disadvantages: Her only album
...This is my favourite album in my collection so far. It is a really nice example of someone who can actually sing, not just bellow into the mic and strain their voice, Mindy has obvious talent and I am surprised I had not heard of her before I bought this. The album has relaxing country songs (as well as a few 'rockey' numbers) and nicely written lyrics. My two personal favourite songs were Jolene (a Dollyparton cover with Dolly's vocal harmony) and One Moment More a beautifully sung and touching song. A few of the tracks were slightly weaker than others in that they were a bit repetative but overall a very pleasing album. I really recommend this as she has real talent and is virtually unknown in Britain. A real gem....
