Whilst when we get a winner of our reality music competitions they manage to dominate the charts, at least for a few weeks following their victory, the UK has been more reluctant to grab hold of America's reality show winners. That's not to say they love anything we've came up with from 'X-Factor', as Simon Cowell is still working hard on his campaign to feed Leona Lewis to the larger audience. Jordin Sparks became the sixth winner of American Idol in 2007, and they are now on their seventh season - this is a show the same as 'Pop Idol', which we tired of after just two seasons yet across the pond the competition still manages to garner record ratings. The most well known of these American Idol winners is probably the original winner, Kelly Clarkson, who had some modest success here.. however, now Jordin Sparks shall be trying to 'crack the UK' with a different genre of music in mind.
At just the tender age of 17, Jordin was the youngest winner in history, however being so young didn't mean she missed her fair share of controversy. The National Action Against Obesity group sensationally claimed that Jordin was not a vision of health, and rather of 'unhealth', and was a reflection of todays compromised health society. On her audition that would see her qualify to the Hollywood round of the show, Simon Cowell criticized her for being, 'too cute'. Despite all this, upon her victory Jordin became the first winner to sign to Jive Records, famous for also being Britney Spears' label. 'Jordin Sparks' is the name of her self-titled debut album, released worldwide in November '07 yet getting absolutely no exposure or promotion in the UK. This was a quickly produced album, aproximately six months, compared to the almost a year Cowell spent working with Leona Lewis. Critical response was very positive, with the album peaking at #10 in the US chart.

Similar to how Leona Lewis' album, 'Spirit', featured her X-Factor winner single as a bonus track, 'This is my Now' was the winners single from American Idol 6. The track was the winner of a songwriting competition of which thousands entered, and was actually the first time I heard Jordin as the winning performance was all over YouTube. During the final, Cowell famously said that Jordin's performance wiped the floor with her opponent, sounds familiar? This then prompted complaints that the song was better suited to Jordin, who went on to be only the second winner not to peak at #1 with a winners track. 'This is my Now' only peaked at #15, although this could be put down to the track only being released digitally. Everything about the song is exactly the same formula that you see from winners singles.
'Tattoo' would be the first real single release, and the head track to the album, which out did her winners single peaking at #8 in the US charts and #3 in Canada. An official release to the UK market is expected late March '08. Written by the same team that has worked with Beyonce Knowles and Ne-Yo, as well as writing the worldwide hit, "You're Beautiful" for James Blunt, the premise behind the song is of someones love sticking with her like a tattoo. Whilst many had this down as a definate chart topper, criticism came saying the song was too similar to 'Irreplaceable' - Beyonce and a mix of Rihanna and JoJo records. Despite not being true R&B, featuring guitar melodies, the video is getting airplay on MTV Base.
"If I should die before I wake, it's cause you took my breath away" - Jordin Spark featuring Chris Brown
'No Air' is without a doubt one of my favourite tracks on the album, as it features the perfect partner for her in 18 year-old Chris Brown, who is famed for his performance of 'Thriller' at the World Music Awards as well as now Rihanna's new bit on the side. Whilst many could say that singing about someone leaving meaning you can't breath is every bit as cheesy as her first two singles, there is something that works incredibly well about this ballad, and I'm sure it's working exactly how they hoped it would for the young audience. The longest track on the album, I love every second of it, and definitly had to be the second single release. Still fairly new to the US chart, its current peak is #13, making it Jordin's second biggest success and showing there is more appeal to the artist from her debut album rather than just her weekly appearances on American Idol.
There are still ten other tracks to discuss on the album, as if her three releases don't make this worth the money alone. Production appears to have been done to a near perfect level on this album, with tracks sounding how you would expect them to, 'Freeze' sounding icey cold. Tracks also have bubbly beats and defining moments that will stay in your head, such as the chorus to 'Shy Boy'. Around track six the album seems to go on a run of slower songs, and as nothing lives up to the standard of 'No Air', things go slightly amiss from 'Now You Tell Me' to 'Permanent Money'. I think 'Young and in Love' sounds like a crossover between a Britney Spears and a Hiliary Duff song, but that could potentially lead to being material for a third single release from the album. Obviously the management team behind Sparks think a lot of people that voted for her to win were the younger audience, and that is representative of an album that is mostly about love, with 'God Loves Ugly' thrown in at the finish as a feel-good song for those who do not feel the most beautiful and also expresses Jordin's religious beliefs. Jordin Sparks won the Best New Artist award from the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People. I thought the word 'coloured' was racist.
Advantages: Great songs, a great voice, nice range of songs Disadvantages: Some duds
...me it was. Jordin Sparks was only 16 when she entered American Idol, and won the sixth series of the show. Her bdeut single went to number one in America, and since then her popularity has rocketed, releasing a massive hit with R'n'B singer Chris Brown and also cracking the UK market. This album was released back in April 2008 and although not a real commercial success, she seems to be quite well for herself considering she's only the 2nd American ... ...is sung beautifully by both Jordin and Chris. Their voices complement each other really well and the power in Jordin's voice is balanced perfectly with Chris' soft male vocals. A real joy to listen to, and the best song on the album. 5/5 ===Freeze===: Opinion seems to be really split about this song, but I absolutely love it, and it's a close second behind No Air for me as the best song on the album. I actually heard this in HMV whilst browsing and ...

Advantages: A nice range of songs Disadvantages: Too many sounded the same
So this album has been out a little while now - probably about a year. Most people have heard the debut 'No Air' which features Chris Brown. It was in the charts for a pretty long time! Its quite a strong song and the lyrics are meaningful ''Tell me how im supposed to breathe with no air, it's how I feel when I know you aint there. It's no air - no air''
Here second single was Tattoo, which unfortunately didnt add up to the hype of No Air. It's ... ...pretty much repetitive. It's what you would expect from a Reality TV singer if im honest. It has some good tracks on here, but I wouldnt say it was outstanding. She is only 16 though - and she has a remarkable voice. You may not know her as she won American Idol - which is their version to The X Factor - but she is known here over in the UK. Hopefully with time and good song writers - she can become well known just like Kelly Clarkson did ...

Advantages: A few good songs Disadvantages: Juvenile attempt, most of the songs are bad
Now I don't know if I'm the right person to be reviewing this CD as it's not my type of music, but I borrowed this CD from a friend as I enjoyed her music on American Idol but I dind't know if she would be as good.
Who is JordinSparks?
JordinSparks is a 18 year old American pop/RnB singer from America, the sixth season of American Idol was what she found fame in, when she found herself being the youngest ever winner of the show at just 17 years old.
She released this album in 2008, here is my review:
Track 1: Tattoo
I like this song, I hate when she goes hey at the beginning it makes the song sound really tacky, however I really do love the drum beat throughout the track. Her voice is amazing, I didn't think she deserved to win on American Idol, but I think I might change my mind at the moment.

Advantages: Catchy songs Disadvantages: Few rubbish album filler
JordinSparks is an 18 yrs American Pop/R&B singer.
She won the 6th series of American Idol in 2007.
Her debut self titled album ranges from ballads like her first single 'This is my Now' to her second US single Tatoo (very poppy) and a duet with Chris Brown titled 'No Air (R&B).
Album:
1) Tatoo - This charted at number 8 on the billboard hot 100. It's a cute pop song about her love for a boy that she holds close to her heart.
2) One step at a time - Due to be her next single in the US. It's sound is like an early Christina Aguilera come Britney Spears. Easy to listen to and quite catchy
3) No Air- Duet with Chris Brown...Absolutely love this single. Has a funky R&B edge to it and again very catchy. This was released in the US and reached number 3 on the billboard hot 100.
4) Freeze - Co written by Sparks it has ...

This is actually my first review written as an official adult now, lets see if anything?s changed. I?m sure it hasn?t. Back to my roots again with another music review.
Who is JordinSparks?
JordinSparks is a 20 year old American singer, she is most famous for winning the sixth season of American Idol. After the success of her debut album, lets see if her second album lives us to expectations:
Track 1- Walking On Snow
It?s another typical JordinSparks song, a strong beat throughout it, with great vocals. One of the biggest problems I had with her previous album, her debut album was the fact that I felt that she went into the RnB style a bit too much and because of it, she pulled back her vocals a bit. She was known on American Idol for her huge voice and on her debut album, we didn?t really get to hear her big ...

Album Notes
Jordin Sparks, winner of AMERICAN IDOL's sixth season, delivered her self-titled debut in 2007 with all the youthful energy she displayed on the TV program. Interestingly, JORDIN SPARKS doesn't feature the old-school style Sparks favored on the show. Instead, it's full of slick, contemporary R&B in the mold of Beyonce. The style choice plays well to Sparks's impressive vocal range and power, even when she doesn't invest much soul or personal flair in her performances. Despite its shortcomings, JORDIN SPARKS should still please fans who followed the singer's success on AMERICAN IDOL.
Album Reviews
Rolling Stone (pp.79-80) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "The album shrewdly positions her in hip-hop-flavored R&B..." Entertainment Weekly (p.71) - "JORDIN SPARKS is as much effervescent fun as any post-IDOL bow....Expect R&B flavored froth-pop embellished with just enough vocal flourishes." -- Grade: B+
