Girls Aloud are a British Girl band consisting of Nadine Coyle , Cheryl Cole , Kimberly Walsh , Sarah Harding and Nicola Roberts. Girls Aloud were formed on the reality television show Popstars : The Rivals in 2002. Since then , they have become a huge success. To date they have had eighteen top ten singles , including three number ones. Their style of music consists of pop and electro pop.
Jump is Girls Aloud's fourth single. Girls Aloud's jump is a cover of the Pointer Sisters single 'Jump (for my love). The single was released on November 17th 2003 in the United Kingdom. The single charted at number two in the British Single Charts. Jump is featured on the British Film , Love Actually , however it is not Girls Alouds version. The film actually has the Pointer Sisters version on the film. This is because at the time , the American audience would have been unaware as to who Girls Aloud were. Although , Girls Aloud's version of Jump is on the British version of the Love Actually Soundtrack. Jump comes under the Dance Pop genre. The length of this song is three minutes and forty seconds. Jump is on Girls Aloud's second album ; What Will The Neighbours Say. The CD includes B-Side songs ; Girls Aloud and Grease.
Jump is an energetic song ; a favorite at parties. It has a beat which makes you want to get up and 'Jump' when the girls shout 'Jump' in the song. I had heard the original version of this song , and have to say that this one is the best one by far. This is definitely a catchy tune ; one which often stays in your head for hours! This song has a funky beat. The vocals are quite strong and are equally shared between the band members. At certain parts of the song , the girls 'shout' certain lines. Such as "And if you want more , more , more! " . Although I'm not usually a fan of 'Shouty' songs , I think is sounds good on this track as I think it brings the song alive and also interesting because the girls aren't singing in the same 'tone' throughout the whole song.It is a very lively song , and I can't imagine anyone not getting up to dance along to this song! Although this song is very catchy and bouncy , I wouldn't say it is one of my favourite Girls Aloud song. Yes , I do like it , to a certain extent , but I do think their other singles have been a lot better. However , it certainly gets guests dancing at a party!!
I'm not sure how much this CD costs as I won my copy. I won a competition to ask Girls Aloud a question on the children's programme X Change in 2003.I sent in the question I wanted to ask the Girls and then X Change phoned me saying they liked my question and asked me if i would like to ask a question to the band on the show the following week. Although they had said they liked my question , they gave me another one to ask one which was ; If You had to have another girl in the band which popstar would they choose. They replied by saying they were happy as they were and didn't want anyone else in the band!! And in return , they sent me signed copy of Jump which I was really pleased with! Therefore , as I got my copy for free I would say that it was excellent value for money!
