Whilst on a canal trip we had a meal at the Syston HH, and it was pretty good. So when a friend visited, we went to the nearest HH at Spalding, Lincs. Locals will know this as the former The Birds.
What an embarassing disappointment. Inside it was dingy and dirty in parts. It was untidy and the decorations were old and poor. The whole pub was filled with smoke and it was difficult to find anywhere reasonable to sit.
Lots of very loud noise came from TV, music and kids. The meal was poor, slow and poorly served. Two tables nearby made complaints.
I will try other HH pubs and return to Syston some day but you won't catch me anywhere near the HH in Spalding again unless I see a massive advertising campaign locally about a major refurbishment, new management and different approach. Meanwhile, avoid it. ...
My experience at my local Flower Parade. My local Flower Parade is held at Spalding in Lincolnshire every year and they are usually well organised. The floats are well designed with Tulips and there are many different kinds of floats, eg: Dinosaurs, Trains, Rockets but to name a few.

There are all kinds of stalls around the parade where you can buy plants, toys etc.
This year though it was not very organised as there were people walking inbetween the floats, in front of the floats not caring if they caused accidents.
There were also young people under age drinking alcohol and the police were doing nothing about it.
Of all the years that I have been going to the parade this is ...

* Medical students who are interested in their subject (and therefore buy the textbooks!)
* The clinical hypochondriac.
Luckily for us this is not a review of THAT Gray?s Anatomy, no no, it is a review of that most witty of title-writers Spalding GRAY who would like us to consider his particular ANATOMY ? do you see what he?s done there?
